Benefits of the World Cup break for Burnley
I know many aren't happy but like it or not it's happening, so what positives can we take from this long enforced lay-off.
Cork will get a much needed rest after his heavy schedule in recent months.
Jay will have time to recover from his recent injury.
And Churlinov, Twine and Westwood should be able to get some minutes under their belt in the U23's before being considered for 1st team duties.
Only Roberts is away at the WC, so VK will have plenty of time to work with the reminder of the squad and iron out any small details we need to improve.
Finally the main one we'll be able to enjoy sitting at the summit for another month, plus dine out on stuffing Rovers which is always a delight.

I presume there will be some behind closed door friendlies in the coming weeks. The club should be taking advantage of these and admit supporters into the Turf, even if it's just to open the Bob Lord Stand.
Maybe even coincide it with the Fanzone World Cup events they have been marketing at the games, it not as if the the pitch is being relayed or anything, as far as I know.

Its an extra month to knit the squad together and impose VK's philosophies beyond the astonishing efforts to date
I fear for the rest of this division

I don't I couldn't care less for the rest of this division except when we play them .Selby Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 11:49 amIts an extra month to knit the squad together and impose VK's philosophies beyond the astonishing efforts to date

I was chatting with a Rovers supporting m8 on another forum, and he was on about the money spent by BFC on players for this campaign ... so I pointed out the outgoings before the incomings and it changed his attitude a little bit ...
I am still buzzing over the weekend as everyone on here is ... but also still trying to grasp the fact VK has got this squad of players flying as quick as he has ... a tribute not just to him but his backroom staff too ... Also like Tiger says we still have Twine, Churlinov and Westy to come back
I keep expecting to wake up and find it was just a dream

It is a dream, brought on by all those medicinal compounds you've been shoving down your man flu neck.
Seriously, hope you're feeling better m8

Is Twine on the mend then? Would be nice if he was fit for when it all restarts.

Squad gets a rest
Those injured will be closer to a return to fitness.
VK and backroom staff can start preparing for the transfer window without having to think about games.

He is apparently now in full training with the squad.
After the WC, we will be starting with what could be seen as 3 new signings. Going to be an exciting second half to the season.

Next summer it’s being done - full new pitch I believe as this one will be 13 years old. It should have been done 2-3 years ago.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 11:22 amI presume there will be some behind closed door friendlies in the coming weeks. I think the pitch has been re-laid more than once in 13 years.Claretforever wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 1:20 pmNext summer it’s being done - full new pitch I believe as this one will be 13 years old. It should have been done 2-3 years ago.
In fact I'd go so far as to say 2-3 years ago.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Benefits of the World Cup break for Burnley
It’s had the top removed as it does most summers, but I’m talking about the full pitch being dug out and replaced, like we did in 2010 when we first had the Desso surface installed. That was the first new pitch since the 1970’s. Probably cost around £1.5m or so I’d imagine next time. It cost about £1m in 2010.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 1:57 pmI think the pitch has been re-laid more than once in 13 years.

Re: Benefits of the World Cup break for Burnley
We are definitely having a full relay next summer. Desso's have a timelife of 10-11 years. It would have happened the summer just gone but with the off season being much shorter, it wouldn't have been completed in time.Claretforever wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 2:09 pmIt’s had the top removed as it does most summers, but I’m talking about the full pitch being dug out and replaced, like we did in 2010 when we first had the Desso surface installed. Re: Benefits of the World Cup break for Burnley
I would imagine the players are on a week s holiday now just to refresh themselves after such an intense few months. Then it will be back for a mini pre-season for 3 weeks.
Westwood himself says he reckons he could be ready to play sometime in January or February.
