Re: Would you have him back
I think he slots right in unlike the Dyche system, its a no brainer a free transfer that knows the club

Nope, we're fine as we are with the younger players who're all doing well and we've got some to come back from injury yet

We are top scorers in the league and we have Twine and Churlinov to come in both of whom I would expect to weigh in with a few goals. I really like Vydra but not for us now.

Definitely. Short contract just in case he can't regain his previous form.

I don't see the point.
Unless we lose Tella and Dervisoglu, but then it would be a short term deal in my opinion.

Re: Would you have him back
Yes. Proven at this level.
Re: Would you have him back
If he was offered a role by VK then yes ... (but not as a bench warmer) ... I reckon he would relish playing in front of our young hungry "Devil-dog" midfield

Re: Would you have him back
I think he would have really suited this system, with the service to a striker as we saw v Rovers infinitely better. But not comfortable with someone that could not get away quick enough once his injury was starting to make good progress. Felt he used the club and that may be understandable as I felt SD made him really work for his debut and he always seemed to be well down he pecking order for a start

Used the club?
The lad played a good proportion of a relegation battle with a snapped circulate and set up the winner in that time. If our offer was derisory he did right to turn it down and see what was about. But my first point means he will always have thanks from me ( even though we went down).

Well, he was about 4" too short for Dyche.

Re: Would you have him back
Doesn’t really matter whether we would have him back. The club made an offer which he or his agent (I can’t quite remember) said they couldn’t possibly accept. I’m not sure why we would now make him an improved offer when we’re sat at the top of the league with players still to come back.
Besides, he’d earn more playing abroad than for us.

We're scoring goals though, we aren't desperate to sign a proven goal scorer.

Re: Would you have him back
Wish he’d never gone in the first place. Never got a fair run under Dyche for whatever reason. I was and am a massive fan. He would have a field day in this team.
I am still convinced (based on nothing more than a gut feeling though) that he and Dyche didn’t get on. Either that or Dyche had a problem with skilful, fast, gifted forwards. He should have had a great career at Burnley and the last time he was in the Championship he scored twenty odd goals in a very average team. Of course I’d have him back.

Re: Would you have him back
We already know Vinny is eyeing up the 21 year old version of Vydra from the lower Latvian village league that nobody has ever heard of. We don't need Vydra.

Think the Sheffield United game showed we need some physically up front in both boxes
Re: Would you have him back
Yep, if he came back he would know exactly what he is getting into - genuine competition for a place and the chance to play some of his style of football. I'd love to see it.

I'd have any player back if it helped us get promotion.
Re: Would you have him back
Never got the Vydra love in from some. He was ok but nothing special.

This boat has clearly sailed and we are doing just fine without him. On the physicality front having Brownhill and Barnes in that team against the Blades would have made all the difference. We don’t need Vydra who always flattered to deceive in a Burnley shirt.

No. He’s the wrong side of 30 and coming back from a serious knee injury.
He’s the opposite of the profile the club have switched to since relegation.

Re: Would you have him back
And its possible he had not realised he had damaged his cruciate and played on as the pain was bearable-ask Dean Marney who suffered a similar injury and carried on. There were other ocassions whilst here when Vydra got injured and signalled to the bench to come offKlyBfc wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 8:24 pmUsed the club?

Re: Would you have him back
Yes please, makes perfect sense. He is a very good player and very experienced certainly at this level. It makes sense to offer him 6 months to give us an extra dimension and in a system that would play to his strengths. If it works out great no doubt it means we are promoted also, can reassess then.

Re: Would you have him back
No chance Kompany will sign him he is far to old at 30 and he would want a 3-4 year contract.
I read Bellamy saying that the days of Burnley signing 30 year olds and paying them 30k a week or well and truly over and rightly so

Nope. Regardless of how good he is, or if he’d fit our system more now, I just don’t think we need him. I couldn’t choose a single player in the squad that I would pick him over.

While he is decent he is nowhere near the level some made him out to be, another who got better and better the less he played.
For those unsure look at the clubs he is being linked with

Re: Would you have him back
Not for me he's on the slide in his career, and given we've got several options up top it's not a position we really need to recruit in this season anyway.
And assuming we secure promotion I'd hope our sights are set on far better prospects than Vydra, preferably younger with the potential to improve as well.

Re: Would you have him back
I think it’d be a great signing. His pace (assuming he still has it of course) and movement upfront would destroy Championship defences.
It’s not about living in the past, just about recognising we haven’t signed a perm striker and have lost Wout, probably forever, so would be one area I’d like to see us strengthen without breaking the bank.
Not sure he’d join though as realistically isn’t going to be a starter and can’t see it being a long term deal after injury, so imagine he’ll sign somewhere he can put himself in the shop window.

Absolutely not for me, don't think he's the type of player we need anyway.
