Cheeky bet on Qatar to win (or else)
Re: No alcohol in fanzones and possibly stadiums at World.
They will probably have to eat halal meat as that is likely to be all that is available.
We have all eaten halal meat, I'm sure as lots of places sell it without telling you.

3 million tickets sold. 300,000 left. OK now to go for that alcohol ban we've been planning.

I've just finished watching the episodes of "FIFA uncovered" on Netflix today.
If you've not seen it, it's well worth making the effort.

There's a micro pub/bar (I forget the name) on the main drag in Hebden Bridge that serves thirds of a pint.
Fairly powerful stuff as well, you'd be close to dancing on the ceiling after a couple.

Does the FIFA doc tell us anything we don't already know? They've been blatantly corrupt for years.

I wouldn't mind drinking out of third of a pint glases if I was in a bar that had a shitload of draft beers to sample.

I don't often go there. They have the famous old Cider Bar.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 8:07 pmIve not been to Nuke Town for a coulple of years. Have some decent bars sprung up?
The bar I was in was at Tuckers Maltings, looked a bit different with some very strong beers.

It's not so much as things we didn't already know, more the extent, depth and complexity of
the corruption that the authorities eventually uncovered. The arrogance of the egotistical. conceited
people involved is staggering, as is the sums of money involved. Flat out denial at times too.
Beggars belief.

That reminds me of the time I had to recover some confiscated items from the old airport in Doha. The items in the room were a sight to behold, in addition to sex toys were booze, playing cards, roulettes, "magazines", DVDs.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 8:03 pmThe following are also banned -As The Qatar “ govt” have banned “ sex toys and aids” ( the disease as well I guess )

I still have all my "membership cards" for the hotels somewhere, without one you couldn't go in and drink with the exception of the bar in the Sheraton. If you were a foriegn resident then you were also supposed to apply for an alcohol permit and go for an interview, that also allowed you to visit the only shop in Qatar that sells alcohol for home consumption. I think it is also clear that being drunk in public could lead to prison sentence, it if you live there, losing your job and being deported.

Horrendous on LGBT rights, migrant workers exploited, possibly thousands killed, building the stadiums and infrastructure. But now no beer then this is now serious for some.

Was just about to post exactly the same thing. Surely a ban a beer is the least of their ills.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 9:26 amHorrendous on LGBT rights, migrant workers exploited, possibly thousands killed, building the stadiums and infrastructure. I started watching the FIFA documentary but it just doesn’t bother me at all. You assume these big organisations are corrupt to an extent anyway don’t you?
