Rangers boss sacked
I wonder if they’ll be interested in Mr Dyche.

Re: Rangers boss sacked
Not a surprise given all the chatter up here, and if they were going to pot GVB now is the time to make the change well they have a few weeks to get a new manager in place.
Gerrard and Beale the early favourites that I can see though Dyche is 4th on the list.

Looks to be favourite at the moment, not that it means anything at this stage.
They look a long way away from Celtic again at the moment so it’s a big job for someone.

Re: Rangers boss sacked
Indeed they do and it's a tough gig to take on when you consider Gerrard won the league before departing for Villa, then his successor took Rangers all the way to the EL final, then the CL for the first time in over a decade, yet he's still been shown the door.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 10:58 amLooks to be favourite at the moment, not that it means anything at this stage.

A quick scan on Twitter and it seems most Rangers fans very much against Dyche due to his perceived style of play.

Beale odds on favourite. Bizarre how he is getting links left right and centre when he’s only managed about 20 games.
Re: Rangers boss sacked
Not that bizarre in terms of Rangers, he was Gerrard's assistant up there and thought to be a big part of the success.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 4:33 pmBeale odds on favourite. Bizarre how he is getting links left right and centre when he’s only managed about 20 games.

Beale leaving could be a big blow for QPR before we play them, of course it could have the opposite affect and motivate their squad to rally round the caretaker manager.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 4:33 pmBeale odds on favourite. It would seem strange to turn down a move to the Premier League to then take a job in Scotland a few weeks later.

More chance of getting European experience if he goes to Scotland.

Played golf with a rabid Gers supporter last week who was very keen on SD, saying that Van Hire was getting the sack soon. Seemed to know a lot about the Gers.

perfect job for Dyche, go up there and do well then he's nailed on to get a bigger PL job - I doubt he will get one as things stand

Re: Rangers boss sacked
Doing well at one of the Old Firm doesn’t mean PL success. Ask Gerrard. Problem is Celtic and Rangers are big sides in a very small pool. They are actually both pretty ordinary sides at best.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 7:05 pmperfect job for Dyche, go up there and do well then he's nailed on to get a bigger PL job - I doubt he will get one as things stand

But why? Not being contentious, I just don’t know why you think that. To me personally it’s a bit like someone doing well in the Championship. Dyche has years of PL experience with Burnley and still no one seems to want him. I’m open to an explanation if you care to but if not it’s okay.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 10:11 pmthat's not what I said - I said it gives him a better chance of getting a job in the PL

Gerrard had zero experience and got the Villa job on the back of ithouseboy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 10:15 pmBut why? Not being contentious, I just don’t know why you think that. It just seems to be how it's viewed - Rangers are a massive club, bigger than 90% of the Premier League. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, in fact the opposite in terms of standard
Re: Rangers boss sacked
Sean Dyche would do well at Rangers and learn more about Europe.

Getting Rangers (who aren't very good) to an actual European Cup Final and then getting potted six months later is peak football unfortunately

Re: Rangers boss sacked
Europa League Final to be precise LC, I do accept your point though this sums up modern football only a few short months GVB was hailed as a hero, now despite leading Rangers to the CL for the first time in 12 years he's been potted.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:10 amGetting Rangers (who aren't very good) to an actual European Cup Final and then getting potted six months later is peak football unfortunately
That's the perils of managing either of the Old Firm clubs though 2nd simply isn't seen as success.

Re: Rangers boss sacked
Dyche wouldn't handle the pressures of Rangers and their need to win every game.
He still holds grudges against our fans who whinged about the negative football when he first came. He wouldn't survive a slow start up there, even if the opposition is easy to beat. Well apart from Aberdeen, he struggled beating Aberdeen.

Re: Rangers boss sacked
That’s true. Rangers are a huge club and I suppose that it does give the experience of managing a big club. I’ve often said it must be awful supporting either of them because anything less than winning is seen as abject failure. I can’t imagine how it must feel being runners up and feeling it’s like the end of the world. Very few leagues have that kind of situation, the only one that comes to mind is Uruguay where Penarol and Nacional have a dominance that makes Scotland look like an open competition.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:59 pmGerrard had zero experience and got the Villa job on the back of it

Either way Dyche won’t be at Rangers. It could even be the reason he is not getting jobs is simply he is not looking.

Re: Rangers boss sacked
I realise the gap allows QPR to get their new manager in place, but it's not ideal for them at all is it. This break will be used by most teams to have a bit of a holiday followed by a mini pre-season to try and iron out weaknesses from the season so far/improve things etc. They're now going to have players away on holiday, returning to a caretaker manager and question marks over who is coming in, with limited direction etc.
I think this is really good news for us personally in terms of us being their first opponents - I don't feel the timing is good at all for QPR.
