RIP Wilko. I was fortunate to see him a few times.
He did well to survive Pancreatic cancer, for as long as he did.

As well as being a fan of his music,I also followed his battle against this disease, having lost a couple of close family members to it. He was touring as recently as last month.

Sad news. I saw him at Colne Blues a few years ago. Just listen to him play live on this video.

Dr. Feelgood - Roxette

What a shame.
His strutting whilst playing Roxette was truly iconic.

Really sad news. Not just the strutting, his playing style was fairly unique also. Wilko was one of those artists who made me want to learn to play guitar. Don't You Leave Me Here - Wilko Johnson : My Life is a really good read. He comes across as having been a genuinely decent, down to earth chap. RIP Wilko and thank you.

Funnily enough he bumped into a doctor who said he could help him and obviously did for some time. RIP.

Great player and England international too, RIP.
I’d forgotten to mention England but he had eight caps and scored six goals.

Sad sad day . Saw him in April with Norman and he was still as good as ever . Seen him quite a few times on his own and with the blockheads , but unfortunately never with Dr Feelgood . RIP Wilko

I’m the other way round. Never saw him live on his own but saw Dr Feelgood supporting Hawkwind back in the day. Didnt like the Feelgoods overly but always appreciated Wilco’s playing. Wish I’d seen him in his own.

Never liked Dr Feelgood much until I saw this footage a couple of years ago showing how good they were live.

Sad news.

Never saw Wilko live but did see a live version of Dr. Feelgood at The Mechanics a few years back (I think there was only one original band member but still very good)

One of my favorites Back in the night..

https://youtu.be/9ILyWFhuf3Y

As has been said, did well to survive this horrible disease for so long (lost my mum to it aged just 46) :-(

RIP Wilko
Interesting song, Lee played the slide lead on that. Supported the Feelgoods a good few times in the 70s, man that band could drink. Wilko top guy, a true gent.

Just seen this. Absolutely gutted. Had a pint with him at Buddy Ascott’s 60th, treated me like he’d known me all his life.
I know a lot of London musicians that will inconsolable tonight, he was universally liked.

R.I.P Wilko. Sorry I never did get to see you play.

Saw Wilko supporting The Stranglers about 7/8 years ago - by all accounts he' should have already been dead but he'd definitely still got it on stage - top class

The Feelgoods were an immense live band Stupidlty is a fine album. Latterly accompanied by a dvd which really captures them at their best

Often described as the godfathers of punk - with good reason

Sad day

Absolutely gutted. A great guy who has documented his illness, details of which can be found
on YouTube.

Here he is explaining the origin and style of his playing technique with a demonstration.
