If you read the link below he’d previously said people vaccinated "cannot spread it to you."

Blatant mis-information by the President of the US.
Look, there’s been mis-information on both sides, simple really.

There’s obviously some very extreme views on the ‘anti vax’ side, which probably tip the scales that way. But if we are looking at things objectively, stories like this one (CNN) don’t paint ‘the other side’ (in this case government scientists and Moderna) in good light either:Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:54 pm*mis information on both sides*

First word of that
"some"
"some"
Re: Flu & covid jabs
Are you seriously reading that and thinking it’s some big deal. Some data that had been published three times but was incomplete and suggested a booster vaccine worked slightly less well than the original vaccine (but still worked extremely well) wasn’t submitted to a committee and some people are ‘disappointed’.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:59 pmThere’s obviously some very extreme views on the ‘anti vax’ side, which probably tip the scales that way. Never said it was a big deal. Re: Flu & covid jabs
Not sure if I'm reading this correctly but what it seems to be saying is that a revised vaccine to be given as a booster shot was more effective as a booster than the alternative.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 4:59 pmThere’s obviously some very extreme views on the ‘anti vax’ side, which probably tip the scales that way. That is to say that it was better at reducing the probability of covid infection, whilst I can't see any suggestion that there were any undesirable side-effects either.
Granted there seems to have been some failure to transmit certain information but unless I am missing something if this revised vaccine had not been approved then it seems likely that there would have been more Covid cases.
This doesn't seem to me to be on the same scale as some (well ANY to be honest) of the anti-vaxxer myths.
Re: Flu & covid jabs
Nope - I read it wrong...the revised vaccine was actually slightly less effective.keith1879 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 5:13 pmNot sure if I'm reading this correctly but what it seems to be saying is that a revised vaccine to be given as a booster shot was more effective as a booster than the alternative.

There is a cracking thread on Twitter at the moment where Right Said Fred (no seriously) are questioning the amount of defibrillators that are now available in public spaces.
Highly recommended.

Re: Flu & covid jabs
That’s not mis-information is it? And the data you refer to had already been published by Moderna in three other places according to the article so there was no lack of transparency. Would it have been better to present the information to the committee? Probably, although it was incomplete and would probably have been presented in such a way. Would it have changed the decision to approve the booster? Of course not. A booster very slightly less effective against transmission (by less than 2%) wasn’t going to swing things either way.

I'm sorry but this seems to me to be false equivalence.
My beef is that people are being influenced to decline a vaccine at all by on-line "influencers" (yeuch) and as such many people are dying or falling seriously ill.
Yes there is some lack of transparency here....but it really is not comparable with the lies and misinterpretation being fed us by people such as Campbell

Re: Flu & covid jabs
Sub-optimal yes, but no grand conspiracy.
The six FDA and CDC advisers interviewed by CNN said that this infection data wouldn’t have changed how they voted, because the data had such limitations, but it still should have been presented to them.

"We fact-checked a similar statement by Biden in October when he said people who are vaccinated for the coronavirus "cannot spread it to you." We found at the time that studies showed a vaccinated person was less likely to spread the virus, but the risk wasn’t zero. We rated Biden’s statement Half True. That was before the omicron variant was named a variant of concern by the World Health Organization.
At the time, Tara C. Smith, a Kent State University epidemiologist, told us: "Vaccination does significantly reduce transmission from vaccinated breakthrough cases but does not completely eliminate it."
So the fact-check actually rated Biden as being "half true".

Without reading the whole 5 pages so far:
I have never had a flu jab in my life. Last time i had flu was December 1999, just in time for the millennium. And as far as i can remember it is the only time i have had flu in 54 years. I had the first 2 Covid jabs and was more ill from the first than i was when i actually caught Covid. As it doesnt stop me catching it or spreading it, I will not have any further flu or Covid jabs.

Re: Flu & covid jabs
I suspect your 30 year old body was much more capable of defending itself against flu than your 54 year old (and beyond) body is. That’s why they offer free jabs to the over 50s and not the under 50s. Entirely your choice, but basing your decision on what your body could cope with at 30 seems a bit short sighted.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 1:45 pmWithout reading the whole 5 pages so far:

Re: Flu & covid jabs
The first Covid jab made me staggeringly tired for about 36 hours, but when I subsequently caught Covid it was so mild that I didn't even know I had it until I did a test. Was that the result of being fully vaccinated? Individually I cannot say but the overall averages suggest that it probably was.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 1:45 pmWithout reading the whole 5 pages so far:

Re: Flu & covid jabs
I’ve had 3 jabs but I probably won’t have anymore now, I don’t regret having them as I did what I felt was right at the time.
Had Covid twice, was rough for a few days but ultimately I’m a fit lad in my early 30’s so I don’t really need protection at the minute.
I’ll always go with medical advice though but have no issues with those that make their own choices

Re: Flu & covid jabs
We are seeing lots of flu RSV and Covid. Only those with respiratory infections are now tested for Covid. The vast majority now with Covid have been vaccinated and are sent home, a few usually with COPD need oxygen and stay for a few days. The ones with "old fashioned" Covid with lung whiteouts are those where the vaccines have not had much effect due to their impaired immunity or the (IMO) silly folk who have refused any vaccine, but there are also those unvaccinated who can be discharged from A/E as they are not too ill. Not much fun though seeing an unvaccinated pregnant women going to ICU which leaves you thinking-if only they had........

When you see a pregnant woman in her mid 30's going on a ventilator with no more than a 70% survival chance at best I think I am allowed my opinion of silly, and it is my opinion. Yes people have choices and they have had plenty of information on how they make their decisions. And inevitably we form opinions rightly or wrongly on our experiences. Hence the adjective silly. Apologies if I have offended.
