David Johnson RIP
One of the few players to have played for both Everton & Liverpool as well as Ipswich in between, David Johnson has passed away at the age of 71.
Re: David Johnson RIP
Great player and England international too, RIP.

Not a bad percentage.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 23, 2022 12:59 pmI’d forgotten to mention England but he had eight caps and scored six goals.

Once worked a Sportsmans Dinner at the Centre Spot when he was the speaker. He was a much better footballer than speaker, RIP David Johnson

Re: David Johnson RIP
Excellent player in his time and having made his name with Ipswich who were top flight back in 70s he got his big move to Merseyside and became a household name. I'm fairly certain I saw him score against us more than once, but the one which sticks in my mind was a header in an FA Cup replay at Anfield.

Re: David Johnson RIP
Very good player who picked up his fair share of trophies in the game and who, in 424 appearances, averaged a goal in every 3.7 games. RIP David Johnson.

Re: David Johnson RIP
I saw him make his debut at Turf Moor, Burnley v Everton. I think he was playing as Joe Royle was out with injury.
Re: David Johnson RIP
Just spotted he also played for Barnsley, City and PNE. Good player in his day. R.I.P. David Johnson

Re: David Johnson RIP
David Johnson lived in my home town and until recently he was a regular around the shops and in the local Weatherspoon's Thomas Gerrard, know locally as Tom and Jerry. His presence will be sadly missed. A very under rated footballer who should have won many more England caps. RIP.

Apologies, I inadvertently merged two RIP threads. I’ve now split them.

Re: David Johnson RIP
Confused the Hell out of me… I was pretty sure Wilko hadn’t played for Ipswich, Liverpool and Everton… never mind England
RIP David Johnson, was good enough to be a regular for those challenging for the top honours with his three clubs. I still think of his big hair and ‘tash, one of my favourites as a nipper.
