Not surprisingly the Ashley Barnes shirt is currently the highest priced item

I notice some of them have "Match issued" underneath the pictures. Does that mean those that don't say it weren't match worn, but signed?

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I’ve said this before but it’s very disappointing that this is effectively something that only a relatively small number of people can take part in.
Even the cheapest bid is £100 which in the current climate not many people would be able to match
I still think they would make just as much, if not more by doing these as a raffle at £10 a ticket

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I think that's a very reasonable point. I would certainly buy a couple of tickets (as it's for a good cause) and it would give the grandson an opportunity to win one. I definitely won't be bidding though.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:17 amI’ve said this before but it’s very disappointing that this is effectively something that only a relatively small number of people can take part in.

Tella's has to be Match issued as he threw his into the crowd at the end of the game

They did it as a raffle for the Alzheimer’s shirt last year and I bought a few tickets, but I couldn’t even consider biding for thesenil_desperandum wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:23 amI think that's a very reasonable point. Maybe it is something the Supporters group could raise with the club

Yes, the previous auction they did (can't remember which game now) had a JayRod "match worn" shirt, but he definitely gave it to a kid in the crowd at the end of the gameRattyClaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:25 amTella's has to be Match issued as he threw his into the crowd at the end of the game
This is also something the club should clarify given the amount of money some fans are spending. If the player throws his shirt into the crowd how can they advertise a shirt as match worn? Do the players change shirts at half time?

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I reckon if you put it at £10 , you'd easily get over 500 clarets buying a ticket for Ashley's( some would probably buy a lot more ) . Plus 100 from **** who'd like to burn it !!

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
My thought is you wouldn’t buy a ticket for a specific shirt, but the number of tickets are drawn and the shirts are chosen by each winner in order of drawnexpoultryboy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 12:57 pmI reckon if you put it at £10 , you'd easily get over 500 clarets buying a ticket for Ashley's( some would probably buy a lot more ) . Obviously it’s too late for this time, but is this something that could be raised to the club for future?

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
Depends what your goals are. From more than 20 years of fundraising for charity I can tell you that auctions typically make more money than raffles, for less work. It is far easier to get 10 people to spend £500 than to get 500 people to spend £10.

Yes, but in this case it's likely that you would sell several thousand tickets, and also - as wilks alluded to in his initial post, it would be far more inclusive and gives everyone a chance to win.Oshkoshclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 2:04 pmDepends what your goals are. Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
Raffle one shirt and auction the rest seems sensible but if there's any good Samaritans out there with a good cashflow situation you should buy one of the shirts at auction and then get Burnley to raffle it with any profits on top of what you paid going to the charity.

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
At a tenner a pop for a raffle, I’m in for at least two tickets - maybe more.
As it is I’ll be leaving it to those people out there who have masses of disposable.

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
Understand the sentiment but if I can’t afford to bid on an item I can’t afford to lose £10 for nothing in a raffle.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:17 amI’ve said this before but it’s very disappointing that this is effectively something that only a relatively small number of people can take part in.

Suppose it’s just a different way of looking at the same thing.

So there's no difference between £100+ in an auction and £10 in a raffle?

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I’m struggling to work out the logic there.
If you can’t afford either then you wouldn’t do either. It’s not like it’s an either or option.
The way it is now, the people that successfully bid for these will be the same catchment of people that did last year and again next year.

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I beg to differ. It's nothing like looking at the same thing in a different way.
I have £10 to spare. I choose to risk losing the £10, I might get a shirt. I might get nothing, but my £10 has gone to a good cause. I have been involved, I have donated to charity, I feel good about myself.
I haven't got £100, I cannot take part, I feel excluded.
How on earth is that the same thing?

As long as RBL make loads, then great.
Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
Ashley Barnes shirt currently at £900.
That is 90 x £10.
Bound to go up.
So are there 100 or more tenners pledged from us for a draw, subsequent to purchase?
If it can be secured, it would be handy if the money could be sent to let's say, the foodbank fund account. Then whatever needed to purchase Ashley's shirt goes to BFC for RBL and any left stays with the foodbank. The drawer can be witnessed and then posted or collected .
Thoughts?

The question to ask is why is this nowhere to be seen on the club website? How are we supposed to know, without CT posting it here?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 10:24 amThe Burnley shirts worn by the players in the 3-0 win against Blackburn are now being auctioned with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

Something I also noticed
It’s like they’ve thought “we know 90% of the fan base won’t be able to take part, so we’ll just tell those we know can”

Like no doubt a lot if other people the bids are way out of my price range. The proceeds are at least going to a good cause but I too would have preferred a raffle type situation to give more people an opportunity. I hope though it goes well for everyone.

This isn’t for you though, it’s for charity, and I’m guessing this method raises more funds.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:17 amI’ve said this before but it’s very disappointing that this is effectively something that only a relatively small number of people can take part in.

Re: Shirts from Blackburn win being auctioned
I suppose it’s all good for the charity but some people most have more money than sense , it was blackburn not Brazil. Maybe this is in line with how I’m starting to feel about pro footie as a whole ?… surely it would be so much nicer with a raffle 20 quid tickets . I’d pay that for a shirt .
Edit - I realise this happens with quite a lot of matches , maybe blackburn got giddy when they beat someone and did some good for charity
