Wales v Iran
Big game for both today, Hennessey and Roberts retain their places, Moore for Dan James is the only change for Wales.
This should be a game Wales can win, and if they do they'll have one foot in the KO stages.

We were discussing last week how much we could get for our players at the World Cup. It turned out you get paid if they had been on your books in the last 2 years. Roberts, Weghorst, Pope and Zaroury were listed but we forgot Wayne Hennessey. 5 is a good total for likkle old Burnley.
Good luck to Hennessey and Connor Roberts today.

Re: Wales v Iran
Roberts got away with one there, his poor pass that led to the offside goal.

Re: Wales v Iran
Roberts gets away big timer for that sloppy square pass, lucky boy that Iran strayed offside in the resulting attack.

I thought his pass took a deflection of the Iranians toe, so harsh to blame Roberts

Each player brings in just under £162,000 so even if they go out at the end of the group stages x5 player's will bring in around 800k, not a bad little amoutTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:15 amWe were discussing last week how much we could get for our players at the World Cup. Re: Wales v Iran
Pretty tame 1st half, and the tension is palpable.
Roberts has played fairly well, and should have had an assist with that Kiefer Moore chance, equally he was fortunate to escape with the offside goal.

Its 11 v 9, and that is going to count
I get that Bale and Ramsey are Welsh legends, but surely the Iranian coach is going to notice that if Iran go up a gear physically, Wales just won't be able to live with it

Re: Wales v Iran
Payment to club is apportioned based on time at club. So, approximate £120k for Nick Pope, £120k Connor Roberts, £80k Wayne Hennessey, £40k Wout Weghorst and £40k Anass Zaroury. Total £400k.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:25 amEach player brings in just under £162,000 so even if they go out at the end of the group stages x5 player's will bring in around 800k, not a bad little amout

Welsh goal leading a charmed life there, will Iran regret missing those chances.
Re: Wales v Iran
Azmoun is a very good player, I remember we were heavily linked with him in January to replace Wood, he went to Leverkusen instead.

Not his best game, for Conor.
Re: Wales v Iran
Yep, but also created Wales best chance so far and made a possible goal saving block just before he went off.

Great save by WH.
Re: Wales v Iran
Bale still hasn't touched the ball, feel like they're screwing themselves relying on Bale, almost hoping for a set piece for him to produce some kind of magic.

Re: Wales v Iran
This Wales side doesn’t have many players that could get in the Clarets first XI let alone beat England. I suspect Iran will win.
In fact I’m struggling to think of any. Davies maybe but probably not. Certainly not Bale or Ramsay at their age.
One journey too far for this Wales team unless they find a miracle.

At his peak arguably better than any player England have, yet now he's not even good enough for the Championship.

Re: Wales v Iran
Bale has been a liability in this game.
Re: Wales v Iran
Should he 10+ minutes of injury time here based on other games.
Re: Wales v Iran
Davies starts every game for Spurs, bit laughable to suggest he wouldn't get in our Championship team.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 11:36 amThis Wales side doesn’t have many players that could get in the Clarets first XI let alone beat England. I suspect Iran will win.

I'm not a fan of Kieffer Moore or Dan James but hard to argue they wouldn't get in based on recent club form in the PL.
Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams are absolute certainties.
Harry Wilson had 10 goals and 19 assists in the Championship last season.
Re: Wales v Iran
Hennessy lucky not to be sent off.
Edit: or maybe not!

Re: Wales v Iran
Well he isn’t, is he? That’s the joke VK was making about Ronaldo.
Players like Davies (good shot just now) has done really well for Spurs and is probably their only real quality, Johnson etc are young and run down blind alleys, but the problem I see for Wales is a lack of pace and ball control - lack of quality really. Iran have run rings around them 2nd half. Quicker and better control.
