Mount and a Rice must be very good players if they are keeping Foden on the bench.
Doesn't Foden have a niggly injury?

How many times have we crossed it to the goalkeeper? I'm hoping USA tire in the second half and we find more room.

Our players all look exhausted, why don’t they wake up and play forward passes with energy and aggression?
Could have almost guaranteed this. The psychology of football. Easy first game. Mentally relaxed unfocused and casual.

Surprisingly I think Maguire has been out best player so far! Up front and in defence.

2nd gear, little threat from the US, pretty even game on chances.

That first half display was totally unacceptable, give them ten second half minutes to wake up and if there’s no significant response make numerous changes before it’s too late.

Not sure it was even 2nd gear. Walking pace for the most part. Complete contrast to the zip we played with the other night.

Plenty of time to sort this. USA have been organised, they pressed effectively and have closed down the space well. Expect a different second half.

Ok that was totally embarrassing sitting here in a USA bar in my England shirt…. Aren’t we supposed to rank 5th in the world? I’d rather watch Rotherham waste time - at least they’re good at it

Little threat from the US, what game are you watching they were the width of a crossbar from taking the lead, and on the balance of play they just about deserve to be ahead.

Midfield weak as water allowing them to simply run forward and spark attacks.

Fair play to USA they are playing well and don't appear overawed at all.

The only plus for England is it's 0-0 and surely England can't play as poorly 2nd 45.

5 shots for England 1 on target, 6 for USA 1 on target.

England XG: 0.35, USA XG: 0.42

Shouldn't have picked the same starting 11.
It sends the wrong message out. 2 or 3 changes would have kept everyone on their toes.

I’m hoping Foden comes on for Mount and changes this game, showing Southgate exactly why it’s insane he doesn’t start every game. I appreciate he’s had a few quiet England games but you have to persevere with him - he’s one of the greatest young attacking midfielders in world football.

Pulisic should never score from there, Mount's shot at the end of the half was a better opportunity.

What else have they done? Mckennie's chance in the area? Kane's arguably an easier one.

Chances have been balanced, despite them looking more energetic.

That was my feeling before the game, sends the wrong message to some players .

Grealish rashford Wilson etc - would keep saka mount sterling on their toes

Yes I think it's more an indication of how poor the others are, bit hopefully he'll get a bit of confidence and it will help us going forward. Come on England!

As poor as we've been I still think we'll win this with the talent we have on the bench who can change a game.

Thought Kane’s and McKennie’s the best two of the game. Kane had the opening to slot at the near post but went across goal.

Really? I thought Kane's was the best chance of the half. There's not a chance that Pulisic shot is a better opportunity than the Kane miss.

Kane wasn't close because it was well defended. USA hit the bar and McKennie's was open and clear cut and he should've scored.
