January transfer window rumours.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'd assume Ekdal will be in the stands watching tonight's game.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
So Foster hasn’t signed and Agent is talking crap
‘ I understand #BurnleyFC saw his last 7.5M€ offer refused by #Westerlo for Lyle #Foster. Belgian club (who’s waiting for a big sale…) wants 10M€, a price the Clarets won’t accept. Talks ongoing as #Kompany wants him.
#Foster already accept personal terms.’

7.5mil rejected for Forster and 3mil rejected for obafemi, might as well offer the 15mil to Coventry for Gyokeres

I've not been able to get excited about this transfer despite it being our marquee signing.
He looks very raw and has only improved this season.
Caveat, my opinion is only based on YouTube clips and stats. I've never watched him live.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Id be very surprised if Foster didn't sign. For Kompany and Bellamy to go out there I'd suggest we were close to agreeing a fee and perhaps had permission to discuss personal terms to convince him to sign. It's possible the club are being greedy and upping the price knowing how keen we are on him now.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Make themselves look like idiots every transfer window, zero credibility. I remember some fella telling us all we will spend £50m+ in the PL January window (and that was before Wood was sold). Proper horse shite guff, that poster hasn't been seen since after his long ITK act was exposed.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 5:01 pmThe whole ITK culture I’m transfer windows is mad, lads doing college courses at Burnley college reckon they are journos

You would think so wouldn’t you. Unless VK is adamant about Foster, but I can’t see us going any higher than what we have ‘supposedly’ offered.

That YouTuber guy Liam will delete his tweets about obafemi and foster now or try and claim all he meant was he had agreed personal terms

Re: January transfer window rumours.
If, as has been suggested, personal terms have been agreed and the player wants to come, then I reckon it’s still more than likely this happens. Maybe a last minute spot of posturing and trying to wring a few more euros out of us, which is of course entirely within their rights.

I’d be inclined to say walk away. It’s a hell of a lot of money for what appears on the face of it, a big gamble.
That’s said, we have clearly honed in on this guy and the recruitment under Kompany has been excellent so far.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
It seemed a large fee already for such a raw, unproven player (compared to our other Belgian league buys). Ten million is an extreme ask, I don’t blame us for backing out at that fee.
I’d rather get Obafemi in as a stop gap and sign Gyokeres in the summer.

10 million euros, so about 8.6 sterling. It isn't a massive gap, so hopefully we can meet in the middle.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 4:40 pmhttps://twitter.com/sachatavolieri/stat ... 0800409602

A stop gap? He’s on close to £1m a year at Swansea if you believe the recent reports. He’d be an expensive ‘stop gap’.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 5:30 pmI’d rather get Obafemi in as a stop gap and sign Gyokeres in the summer.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
That is true. I just mean that he seems to be the second choice and perhaps is seen as more of a player to get us over the line in this league, potentially not seen as a starter in the Premier League should we get there. Who knows though, I know VK references any player coming in is signed with the intention of being able to step up.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 5:51 pmA stop gap? Trust VK but can’t get excited about this guy from his current record. Certainly not a €10m player. I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

I find it staggering that Westerlo are able to reject that kind of fee.

We won't be held to ransom paying top dollar for anyone who hasn't (yet) proved he's worth it, so I've no problem with us saying 10 million euros is too much for Foster. Personally I'd rather like him here from what I've seen and read, but certainly not at "any cost".

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I cannot believe that VK and CB flew over to watch him if they were not aware of the "worst case scenario" on the price the club would want. I think and hope we will reach a compromise. I think since the end of the World Cup VK has realised we cannot rely on Jay (form and injury) and Ashley , despite an improvement in his play, but now very much showing his age. We will need a pukka front man/striker if we go up, and we all know how rare and expensive these guys are. This would get the South African player up to speed in preparation for the PL, so a case of buying for the future.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
£9M for this lad? That's three times as much as we might secure Obafemi for. I'm not sure he's three times the striker Obafemi is.
We've got four games in 2-ish weeks coming up soon. I think if Obafemi is poised for a move then it makes sense to buy at that price, it's a low risk option that bolsters us where it's most needed.

Also he looks as one footed as you could ever be. He may be fast but he has less than 30 career goals. 10m Euros is an obscene amount for someone he has yet to do it in a top league.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
VK clearly would like to sign him as it has ben suggested he was the surprise number one target in this window. We obviously want to get him in at the lowest price possible but sometimes this is not always going to happen. So do we walk away or stretch our bid towards their valuation ? I think it likely we can still sign him but may have to offer a little more as a compromise between the alleged bid we made and the alleged value they have on him. Only VK knows what he thinks he is worth but given his choices and record to date I would say if VK is prepared to pay more then back him and get Foster in.

A penny for Foster’s thoughts right now.
I suspect I can guess what they are. It may be kicking off behind the scenes. These are players on ordinary salaries whose financial future could depend on this move happening.
