He was at Westerlo all of last year, being a mainstay in the promotion-winning squad.
Everyone thought he would've left because of what he'd shown in said season, but we managed to sign him on a 4-year deal early on in the summer, which for me personally already meant he'd be our marquee signing.
He's kicked on in the top flight already, and maybe his GA doesn't show it but he's absolutely the focal point in Westerlo's attack, he's both physically and technically among the top of our squad.
Dirar (1.5m sale) was sold in 2008, so if you consider inflation and the history of Westerlo (bought out 3 years back by Turkish investor), the current ask is really not that mad.
We're currently challenging for European football just after promotion (P5-P8 go into a playoff round) and if we sell Foster we can pretty much kiss that goodbye.
If Foster was playing for Genk or Club Brugge, the price asked would be 15-20m+ I reckon. I genuinely believe he has a bright future ahead, maybe not in the sense he'll play for Arsenal or Dortmund or something, but he's a class striker.

I do wonder if VK fancies one of these 2 new cbs to start over CT sooner or later. Not that CT has done a lot wrong, but a bit more height at set pieces and, more importantly, better ball playing ability is needed.

CT is a great squad option, but I agree with you. He’s never looked wholly comfortable at centre back, and I can see Ekdal getting in the team alongside Beyer relatively quickly. Possibly start him at Ipswich with Beyer and see how they go on together, go from there.

The main thing with signing now is the ability to integrate both centre backs into the squad at their own pace, by the time the summer comes round they'll have had time to adjust to our style of play and what is expected of them.

I kept my eye on Taylor last night and he did not look comfortable at centre half. Did not get off to a good start by being pushed off for the WBA first goal. But when we needed to move the ball forward and trailing his passing was very limited, and rarely forward. Because he is so left footed I have noticed with him unless his body is in a certain position, he struggles to pass. As a LB we know he can play well, and that includes the PL where he has had some outstanding games, but I see that as his last game at CH now we have players in place who are natural there

Basically Seelt doesn’t allow himself to be distracted, but Burnley may return with more than 2.2M offer including Egan-Riley on loan.

I can CT being moved on in summer if Maatsen is signed AND our new CB are as good as hoped AND we sign Beyer.
We really do need to address replacements for Barnes and Jay. Pretty sure we can get promoted with the present squad but really need one or two to replace our two stalwarts .

From clips I’ve seen they both look two footed, primarily right, yet played on the left side of the defence

The player is playing down the speculation and wants to concentrate on on his football. Burnley are likely to come back with another bid of more than €2.2m, while PSV are interested in Egan Riley as part of the deal.

So if we got Jenson Seelt that would be 3 centre-backs. I don't think this necessarily suggests we've lost hope of signing Beyer, I just think it's a solid backup option which we're getting sewn up right now rather than in the summer.

Foster's in the matchday squad, seen him on the club's instagram reel. Just read a very short interview with the Westerlo coach about the potential transfer, I'll translate it for you guys:

Vincent Kompany would like to bring Westerlo's Lyle Foster to Burnley, but no deal has been done yet.

According to multiple sources, Burnley's upped their bid to €7m to bring Foster to the Championship.
"He's handling all of the attention very well." coach Jonas De Roeck tells GVA. "This is something that he, as a player, needs to get extra energy from. I also don't feel like he wants to force a move. As a club we've been very open and transparent with him.
