So what you are saying is that you want people to start the sentence with
“I had heard a rumour that Joe Bloggs is going to sign on Monday”…..
Rather than
“Somebody had told me that Joe Bloggs is going to sign on Monday”….

Is that seriously what you have been banging on about for the last couple of days ?

In theory yes because if someone is claiming they have sources and it turns out to not be true it just causes friction on the threads, just leave it to the official reporters, someone saying ‘if what I’ve heard from a good source’ is going to make people question it, the craze of people wanting to claim they are in the know is so strange in my opinion
I’m at a complete semantic loss with this. “Somebody told me” is virtually the same as “I had heard a rumor.” The only difference is a person-to-person source vs written source.

Further, how are you defining “official reporters?” What’s one of them?

It’s hard to understand/comprehend, but the amount of ‘deals’ that are happening, paused, restarted, dropped completely, or dangled to agents, then pulled or given the green light are numerous.

Recruitment teams have multiple players identified per squad position. Players become available a window too soon, or competing teams come in and try to steal the player a window too soon, forcing the club to act.

Agents actively promote players and deals to clubs, and manipulate rumours, and media to manage the process.

All of these things come together to mean that are there are potentially handfuls of ‘rumours’ involving clubs each window.

Give each other a break!

That's not a bad summary nothing is ever certain until that signature appears on that contract everything in between that is uncertainty.

Anyone that says ‘it’s my understanding that’ or ‘I’m hearing reports of’ or ‘news just come to me that’

But 123, I could hear a rumor, heck agent_claret could call me and tell me, and I could come on here and start my post with any one of those sentence beginnings.

I am hearing reports from someone ITK that Barnes to Swansea has been completed tonight but Barnes has asked for an unusual clause which is delaying things.

Apparently Barnes has asked for the reveal video to be done by the Burnley team and the Swansea team are not happy. Watch this space.

In the main, being an "" official reporter" doesn't mean sh1t.

Son in law (to be) is a reporter on a national daily, attending press conferences, doing interviews etc. covering mainly Liverpool, England and Everton and often Burnley when in the Prem....along with boxing.

He'd freely admit that, in the main, he probably knows less than me about what's going on at clubs like ours...just attends the game, gets the copy out and fecks off home as soon as he can get away. Their interest outside the handful of elite clubs is, as you'd suspect, absolutely minimal.

Incidentally, he says his biggest problem is trying, as a big Manure fan, to be positive about the Scousers and to hide his intense dislike of them.

This thread proves that no matter which league we’re in, how many games we’ve won, or how proactive the club is with signings, some of us will still find a way to have an argument. We could be in a thread celebrating our champions league win and someone would start a verbal war over what Benson’s body language meant when he lifted the trophy.

It’s not based on anything I’ve seen, just a feeling I have. I think that we will be fine this season if we don’t get him in anyway, although it would complete the squad.

"Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the arrival of striker Michael Obafemi on a loan deal until the end of the season with the option to make the move permanent in the summer from Swansea City."

Option, rather than an obligation, to buy by the sounds of it.

Could be good business this. And happy that it sounds like an option rather than an obligation. Nice work. If we somehow pull a CM out of the hat as well, it’ll be an amazing January window.

Just amazing to think that our bench is so strong after year's of hardly using it.

Would like to see the Bosnian midfielder in and Bastian put on loan.

I'm very happy with the business we've done so far (although financially for us Foster is something of a gamble and we seem to have stuck our neck out a bit at the price being quoted) but having seriously strengthened our defence and having added real quality to our attack, I too would definitely like this to happen because the "engine room" imo is where we're rather light on back up if we get injuries and suspensions to the main players. Bastien is basically the one back up player in there and he's not first choice because he's clearly not half as good as any of Cork, Cullen or Brownhill. I hope we can sort some incoming before the deadline.

I think we now have a squad of 25 unless one of our loanees goes back or we move on one of our permanent signings.

We won't be looking at forwards now but, watching yesterdays highlights the Coventry guy looked very good again
Also hadn't realised that ex Brighton Aaron Connolly was playing for Hull - scored two good goals

Just need that strong centre midfield option now

0/2 in 1 post, taking your overall strike rate to 0/48.

When are we giving up this ITK act?

I like Connolly-has played well against us for Brighton when Tarks & Mee were a partnership with us. Bit raw, but I can see him coming on at the right club and one to keep an eye on. He has that "Barnesie" aggression about him

At first I thought I squad was getting too big with all of these signings. I'm all for competition for spots, but you can only play 11 and no one wants to come on as a 85th minute sub.
But, looking at the long term, it should pay off.
We have 5 loanees (HWB, Maatsen, Beyer, Dervisoglu, Tella). all 5 could not be back next year. I guess you can include Obefami as well but since he hasn't played i didn't include him.
We have 4 aging players in the last stage of their career (JayRod, Barnes, JBG, Cork).

So our depth gives players to a chance to train and get used to VKs system without being thrust into position before they are ready. Our squad could look significantly different at the start of next year(just like it did for this year), but that could be for the best.,

Fulham trying to sign Berge at Sheff Utd. That’ll be a blow for them, particularly with their transfer embargo.
