Trap Door

Post by Spike » Sun Dec 11, 2022 9:00 pm

What on earth was that trap door behind the nets at Queens Park Strangers?
Why didn’t the linesman spot it and get it sorted when he checked the netting?

TV Camera pit. Can't understand why it was uncovered when not being used, Tella did well to avoid falling into it.

It was the photographers pit , why it’was left open is any bodies guess. It looked lethal and is six feet deep.

The club should be reported for that. Exceedingly dangerous.

If that was at my workplace, or umpteen other places around the country it would be reported as a hazard and therefore have to be promptly acted upon.
However I have always thought that the brick structure in front of the Longside is dangerous and should be either removed or covered with some protective padding.

I know it's not a laughing matter but that clip is genuinely one of the funniest I've seen, how he's still looking where the ball goes as he disappears down.. How bloody deep is it?!
Agree it needs reporting, tella's clever dodge / roll move possibly got him out of a hole quite literally

Watching the match again on Sky and during the 1st half the Camera Pits have their lids on behind the Burnley Goal no cameramen in them ... 2nd half they hadn't put the lids back on at the other end when the cameramen changed ends ... That is rank bad management of Health and Safety at Loftus Rd

Was that was our former centre back Ben Gibson playing for Boro in that video clip?

When I first watched the clip, I thought its quite comical in a childish way, but brushed it of as an unfortunate thing to happen to someone. However your description of it above has me snickering like a schoolboy every time I think about it now.

After the awful story of what happened to the lad at Twerton Park you’d hope the authorities would be looking to get stuff like this sorted. Tella was fortunate to avoid serious injury.

I don't know the threshold for gross negligence in the workplace, but if somebody was seriously injured falling down there, you couldn't claim it was unforeseeable or reasonable measures had been taken to prevent it happening. Unbelievable someone thought it a good idea in the first place, worse that it's allowed to continue.

Even if there was a photographer in there, it wouldn't stop a player from seriously injuring themselves and/or the photographer. You'd think there would be a barrier around it, or something.

A barrier would come with its own hazard that close. Cover the hole permanently and find another option. That bottom tier was empty anyway, put the cameras in there somewhere.

The latest rumour is that QPR have found 4 defenders and 2 strikers hiding in there!

My first visit to this ground and how it was all round disappointment with the experience from start to finish.
So many negatives, stuck in a time warp and definitely in need of serious upgrades / investment.
Nowhere near Premier League standards on or off the pitch.

They’ve been looking to move from Loftus Road for years, with redeveloping an athletics venue being best option for them. They’ve been struggling to get it over the line though

I like Loftus Road, it’s a traditional stadium where the fans are close to the pitch. The last time I went was 2009 and I can imagine that it looks even more tired than it did back then.
