The Traitors
Re: The Traitors
Kirsty Young also did Crimewatch.
I think it would be the same type of celebrity who joins. Those who don't feel they have been in the public eye enough and are craving more publicity. Although having said that, Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson both in would be entertaining.

Re: The Traitors
I really don't watch much regular TV at all and I'm definitely not a fan of "reality" shows featuring rubbish celebrity wannabes who get right up my nose, so I'd shown absolutely no interest in watching this until my son and wife insisted we spend some "family time" binge watching and we've just finished (without knowing the ending!) Crikey, it really was gripping. Like most things the first series when nobody really knows what to expect will always be the best and I wouldn't even bother to make another. You get sucked further and further in and it gets so tense. Yes it's a game, but I felt everyone in there was genuinely playing it and the "look at me's" were few and far between thank god. Wilf was brilliant, even after he ditched my favourite Amanda, but as others have said the "no threat to anyone because if they were traitors they'd have been too dumb to ever have carried it off" group won the cash. I really, really enjoyed it, but won't be watching any follow ups.

Glad to hear that! Really sorry to anyone else I've ruined it for! I actually avoided this thread once it was decided we'd watch it and had no idea about the show or who did well etc, but yeah, I didn't think it through when I was writing my post!

Re: The Traitors
Only just got round to watching this, the missus was watching it and I got sucked in. Quite interesting insights into the usual human traits.
I can't imagine future series will work as well.. unfortunately due to its success, it'll be targeted by people who failed to get on Love Island and the like, a bit like The Apprentice (which was actually good for the first series). And maybe too much has been learned from this one on how to play.

Re: The Traitors
Like you Notts my wife started watching it on catch up over Christmas on the advice of my daughter. I was determined to ignore it because because I thought Big Brother, which I dislike. After side glancing a couple of episodes whilst playing on my tablet I started (to my surprise) discussing it with her. Another couple of episodes and I was completely hooked. We wound up binge watching and I was loving it by the end. Great entertainment and a very good insight into human nature.

As is often the case with the Americans there will be 10x the number of overreactions, fake tears, and fake tantrums. Early prediction is that's what will spoil it.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:05 amUS version has now dropped on the iPlayerhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p ... -is-afoot

Happens in all these kinds of things. It stops being "reality" and it becomes acting to get attention (and ultimately some further media work!) and that's what I can't stand and where I definitely but out.

I binge-watched it last week. They apparently had some celebs in but didn't recognise any of them. It was ok but preferred the UK version.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 11:13 pmJust watching the US version Alan Cumming is the coolest dude on the planet.

Re: The Traitors
I don't watch much TV. But I love watching this show with my daughters.
If I were producing the show, I'd not bother with the tasks and winning coins - unless they altered it so traitors had to foil them. I can't see the point.

It's the only TV I watch and have watched in years tbh - even watched all the English Speaking series'
- my only gripe is that there's a 'Meta' and it's becoming a little bit predictable on what type of Faithful/Traitor will get banished/murdered...
Oh and the missions are utterly boring, though I appreciate they're there to give some much needed respite to the contestants more than anything.
Hope the production team thinks of some ways to keep it fresh, for example:
*****SPOILERS*****
It makes 0 sense to actually banish a Traitor early on as a Faithful as they can recruit, so your best bet is acting dumb/easy to maniuplate and cosy up to a perceived Traitor and when the numbers perceived of Faithful/Traitor are getting even, then start to get Traitors out.
For the first half of the game, it's actually in your best interest to vote Faithful out.
All series' have started to display this meta and how it takes till sort of episode 7 ish to really start to mean anything.
If they can figure this out and don't 'love-islandify' the show by making it try to appeal to as many as possible/making it a platform for those that want to kick on some sort of 'influencer' career then it will continue to be great.

The most gullible person ever on Traitors. Kind of ruined it as she was never going to vote against him from the start.

Re: The Traitors
Harry played it brilliantly but how gullible was Mollie. I get that we’re all human and have emotional ties with people - but when Jaz voted to go with another round of banishments it couldn’t be more obvious that he wasn’t a traitor. She bottled it and cost herself £50k in the process.
Great show. Not sure how they’re going to keep it fresh though. Also a disappointing end as I pretty much figured out that Harry, Mollie and Andrew would be the final few (almost correct but with Jaz thrown into the mix) and Harry would stiff Andrew and take the lot. It was teed up perfectly for a twist with Mollie voting lover boy out.

Re: The Traitors
Agree with that, was it good climax to a great series but it did lose something with the fact that she was never going to go against him, which made his victory all but certain.
She's not the brightest though, there was no other reason for Jas to continue the game if he'd been a traitor, she should have been able to make that connection and won the game (along with Jas)

My thoughts exactly. She let her emotions rule her head. Nothing new there though, we've probably all done that at some point.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:46 pmAgree with that, was it good climax to a great series but it did lose something with the fact that she was never going to go against him, which made his victory all but certain.

She never thought Jaz was a traitor, she said as much, she thought they were both faithful and didn’t want Harry to miss out on the basic of Jaz being wrong about Harry

Re: The Traitors
Well there were obviously at least 2 traitors in the final, unless she thought there was just 1 traitor in the final 8 which just wouldn’t be allowed to happen. And Jaz would never have gone another round if he was a traitor because he had nothing to gain by doing so. Naive and gullible.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 9:06 amShe thought they were all faithful, she was daft but don’t get all this ‘jaz wouldn’t have voted for another round’ stuff.

Re: The Traitors
It was at the point that Andrew stated he “knew” Harry was a traitor is the point that the other 2 should have twigged. The only way Andrew could “know” that Harry was a traitor is if he was also a traitor. When he was then banished and admitted he was a traitor, it should have raised questions in the others minds, but it didn’t.

She was taught a valuable lesson though, never trust a greasy haired f**k boy again. More worthwhile than £90k.

Re: The Traitors
I guess he could have been getting rid of the other traitor to bag the money for himself. But I think Harry's fluttering eyelashes were central to Molly's thoughts not anything remotely sensible.
Jaz was the best player by a mile. I'm actually quite gutted for him.
On the upside, I guess Molly's modelling career will no doubt bag her much more than £90,000. On the downside, it just confirms the view of the world weary and cynical that the snakes win far too often.
And I think I would only go one that show if you have good social skills , are reasonably attractive and make friends easily. All the quiet and weird ones go early it's the modern equivalent of the Pendle Witch trials.
