What Did Santa Bring You For Christmas?

Post by Rowls » Mon Dec 26, 2022 10:26 am

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day with your families and got everything you asked for.

My bestest present was the Barry Kilby book. Only had a quick flick through but it looks like an honest and open appraisal of his time at our club.

Really looking forward to reading it in full.

What did everybody else get?

Our daughter in the UK sent us a great book, it's called Football History told through Newspaper Headlines - Burnley, a history from 1913. Basically it's pages of actual newspaper press reports on all our important and classic matches dating from 1918 to the end of the Dyche era. Each page is an actual newspaper page showing reports on hundreds of our matches, but there are also reports of other matches, league results, attendances just like any normal newspaper sports page.
Obviously the company, who put it all together must do it for all football clubs. I've been reading it since I opened it yesterday, all those memories of yesteryear have come flooding back. If anybody is interested I can let you have details etc.

Jetboil Flash 2 (camping stove that boils 1 litre of water in 100 seconds apparently ) for making brews
Also a Cadac cari chef 50 a BBQ type stove. (not arrived yet)

Plus a present to myself on my VW T6 LWB, had an awning rail fitted , Electric hook up points , Fridge, curtains and screen. Solar panel for leisure battery (already have a kombi bed and heater fitted plus the usual LED lights and additional 12V points.

Just need an air awning next and then I. should be nearly there for a summer of VW festivals and meets (never done it before , had the van since July and thought it was something I would like to try , have a few friends and they love the van life.

Several books and DVDs but the best part of Christmas Day was spending the day at my sister’s home with three Ukrainian refugees - a magical day.

Costs a fortune, and is one of the worst books ever for a bookshelf… but a great reference and updated if it runs to SD.

I was speaking to my 9 year old grandson on Christmas Eve who wanted a phone for Christmas. I reminded him that mummy and daddy had said he was too young for a phone.

So on Christmas Day morning, a phone was there amongst his presents, and he told me, " I knew I could rely on Santa".

No question, those conversations were my best Christmas presents. :D :D :D

My 80 year old mother, she come back to Burnley to the rakehead rehabilitation centre on Christmas eve from the Royal Preston hospital after having a brain hemorrhage on the 28th of November, two operations later and a month in intensive care we have her nearer home to help her recover and learn to walk again hopefully, even though its the first Christmas day I've not sat down at the dinner table with her it's the best present I've ever been given

Agent-Claret. Lovely to read that. Agree that’s the best present you could have wished for. I hope your Mum recovers after what she’s been through. Health and Happiness so often outweighs the giving of gifts.

I've had no presents this year, as yet, but I'm not fussed because I'm on holiday with my lad and that's my Xmas treat to the two of us

The limited edition Endsleigh shirt, tickets to see Pulp in Bridlington, and a book on pickling and preserving. Spending it with family is by far and away the best thing about Christmas though.
