Favourite season
What has been your favourite season ever supporting Burnley? I’m doing some statistics work and would like to know for research purposes.

If we sustain this, it’s this season - hands down.
08/09 as it currently stands for sheer shock, emotion and swashbuckling entertainment.

Re: Favourite season
up to this point it was under Mullen winning the 4th (mainly because I was at the games) but if we go up playing this way with the turn over in the squad this will beat that, it would be an incredible achievement

Coyle's team achieved the 'impossible' but this team is making its own history.

Re: Favourite season
Possibly this…………(might be like remembering only the good days at school tho!)…
Taking over most grounds as we travelled……….the Longside in full voice for tense night matches v Mansfield for example……….
York
And the best thing ever……..my son was born in June 92 and now comes to games with me.

Re: Favourite season
2013/14
Hard to overlook 1992 for the pure nostalgia and the fact we still has the Longside. 2008/9 was really all about the play offs more than the season as a whole.
But 13/14 was so unexpected. Plus it had that win at Ewood, Vings, Trippier and the win v Wigan.

The first promotion under Dyche, because it was so unexpected. I was working abroad for the Coyle promotion so missed most of it.

Re: Favourite season
This season is certainly up there but for me 65/66 was special and 72/73.
Re: Favourite season
I've often thought about this question. Some of our best seasons football wise have coincided with difficult times life wise. That for me really influences my choice. The Coyle season was superb but was a dark time for me personally. I didn't even go to Wembley due to my circumstances at the time. So I would have to choose the 15/16 season, 23 undefeated, life was good in general. If I could relive any season again it would be the 88 Sherpa van season, so I could stand on the Longside with my Dad again.

Same - I'd go with that order too
I really enjoyed 91/92 for the experience and the complete surprise of 13/14
What we have seen so far this season has been exceptional and if we can keep it going would be a fitting way to mark the 50th anniversary of our title win

Re: Favourite season
1981-82
After a very dodgy start I thought we were fantastic to watch on occasions. It was the first season I saw us winning anything at an age when I could appreciate it. We had some great young players such as Laws, Overson, Phelan, Young and Steven along with some experienced heads such as Dobson etc.

Re: Favourite season
1997/98 - the Waddle season. Favourite seasons don’t have to be about success but It just really caught my imagination.
Our assistant manager being Glen Roeder who was also working in the England setup, former international Chris Woods as reserve goalie, England u21 Mark Ford from Leeds, Michael Williams and Steve Blatherwick, both had played in the Premier League and Steve Howeys brother up front. We were going to walk it.
The great escape made it a memorable season in the end.

Re: Favourite season
08/09 without a doubt, exceptional attacking football. If we win the title this season, this team will be my favourite.
Re: Favourite season
Without a doubt, 4th division championship under Sir Jimmy Mullen. They really were fantastic to watch

Re: Favourite season
Another vote for 91/92, it started off poorly and Casper got the push, then Mullen took the reins and we never looked back as we stormed to the 4th division crown to complete the feat of winning all 4 divisions, and that was the start of our fortunes turning following a decade of malaise.

72, 73
But it used to be a stand out on its own, now there are lots of seasons that push it hard, including this.

65-66. Third in Div1
72-73. Div2 Champions
08-09. Wembley and all that….
17-18 into Europe. Not the prettiest football but the commitment to the cause was unbelievable.
