It was a petty thing but straight red should be 3 matches out.

Congrats to Blackburn on being 3rd, 25 games in and having a minus goal difference. I don’t think that’ll ever be repeated.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
Oh! dear all going pear-shaped for Rovers early in the 2nd half, conceding then having a man sent off.
Sheff Utd the only side that remotely look like lasting the pace alongside Burnley.
Now 2-1 Boro who we made look ordinary a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
He hasn't brought anyone on to replace Buckley. They are short in midfield, or defence if one steps into midfield.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
I’m finding it hard not to have at least a tiny tiny tiny bit of sympathy for Rovers for that red card… oh my days that is never ever a straight red.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
Must be the same linesman that got Roberts sent off.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
It’s incredibly harsh but it’s the old adage - don’t do anything silly that gives the referee a decision to make.
But yeah, we’d be bloody fuming.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
Ipswich trying to mess it up again by losing at Portsmouth at the minute. Sheff Wed gone into second place.

Not sure how there can be any complaints there. Hitting your opponent in the head with a ball is a red card offence.barba wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:09 pmRovers read card.

That should never be a red card. Funny mind.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
From watching a bit of Blackpool and Sheff. Utd., I can't help but feel that the quality of football that we have now, week and week out, is of a totally different level. I'm giving up on this game. It's just too painful to watch.

BBD with a FK 1yd outside the semi circle. Ref marches Boro back to level with the penalty spot. Doh!

It doesn’t matter how violently he threw the ball it is an assault.

As table stands, 5 teams are within a win of overtaking Rovers.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
Pool get one back 1-2
Re: Today's Football 29/12
Not sure how it can be considered ‘violent’ as there’s zero aggression in the throw. If he’s absolutely whizzed it at him full pelt then fair enough but that’s not the case.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
Blackpool are absolutely awful. That second goal was laughably pathetic. McAtee runs through unchallenged from his own 18 yard box.
As I type that they’ve got one back though.

How the hell did Blackpool draw 3-3 at the Turf?

Re: Today's Football 29/12
Joey's Bristol Rovers have fought back from 2-0 down to lead Exeter 3-2 in a pulsating West Country derby.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
We were still a very new team and made several mistakes. They drew 3-3 at Bramall Lane too.
Re: Today's Football 29/12
Thing is, that’s the type of minor ****-housery that could feasibly lead to a massive brawl, so I can understand why/if the laws of the game (which I’m no expert on) would deem it a red card offence, as a kind of preventative measure.

The name Patrick Roberts (scored for Sunderland) rings a bell, like he was destined for big things and a big club bought him for big money or something?

Re: Today's Football 29/12
I suppose it’s difficult for officials to have a bar where an action such as that becomes violent. It’s why players are sent off as soon as they raise their hands to their opponent’s head/face. I suspect the difference of views here is that most people would agree that it is a very soft offence to be sent off for, but on the flip side by the letter of the law it is a red card offence, and that is why I would be very surprised if an appeal was withheld.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
Sunderland going great guns under Mowbray, now 4-1 up at Wigan who could well be heading straight back to League 1.Sheedyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:29 pmWest Brom seem to be coming to glad we have a huge gap
Ours to throw away though no matter what others do as long we keep putting the points on the board we'll be fine.
It does illustrate exactly how poor Bruce was doing to have that West Brom squad in the relegation zone.

Re: Today's Football 29/12
See my post above to taio. I don’t think the level of force is particularly relevant as the action was in itself violent.
