We've beaten 4 PL sides in the FA Cup
While in the lower leagues, about time we made it 5 at Bournemouth.
I actually thought we'd beaten more top flight sides then that whilst competing outside the PL, but I guess some of those wins must have came in the LC.
Derby 1999 when Andy Cooke notched the winner.
Fulham 2003 when we blitzed them 3-0 in a TM 5th round replay.
Liverpool 2005 yes the night of the comical OG.
West Brom 2009 again in a TM replay this time at the 4th round stage.
Bizarrely despite the Cherries being in the PL, and Burnley once more back in the Championship, many pundits seem to have us as favourites, although given it's extremely likely both sides will ring the changes it's difficult to predict.
I'm not massively bothered by the result, however I'm keen to see how our youngsters fare against a lower half PL side as this might give us an idea how we'll cope assuming we are promoted straight back to the Prem.

Was it Coventry after derby when they had Chippo and Hadji? Great players.

Poor quality. Good memories though.

I hate football stats that reference only The Premier League years. Why do we seemingly have to ignore or forget everything that came before?
When did this become a thing? Presumably it can’t have begun until at least year two of The Premier League being formed.

Always remember when a rovers fan says 'you've never won the premier league' to reply 'you've never been to wembley'. They will disagree until you point out they have never been to 'the new wembley' since it got done up. same thing innit?

As they will Lincoln in 2017 and those Cowley brothers lauded as tactical masterminds.
As it happens both sacked this week by Pompey.

Re: We've beaten 4 PL sides in the FA Cup
I was at that game in the main Coventry stand with a Cov supporting business acquaintance. Coventry were in a different league to us that day (yes i know they were Premier League) and the gulf in quality was huge. Was it Chippo or Hadji that scored a screamer from about 30 yards in the first half? I remember I think it was Darren Huckerby selling Steve Davis a dummy near the half way line from about 5 yards in front of him. Ball played firmly to his feet and Huckerby let it run, spun and accelerated past Davis who was totally bamboozled by it. Was it 2 years later we went to Cov and won 2-0 with a Taylor header and the indirect freekick in the box that Little finished. Whenever they say that to me, I reply with 'neither have you' which confuses them. Then I point out that the version they won was called the Premiership and had 22 teams.
Obviously, they then reply with, "well, it's the same thing" but then can't answer why it wasn't the same thing when we won it as Division One. Apparently, name changes only count when it suits.

Gary McAllister was sensational that day. He absolutely bossed midfield and it was no surprise that Liverpool subsequently signed him and he went on to lift The Champions League.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 1:18 pmI was at that game in the main Coventry stand with a Cov supporting business acquaintance. It was the UEFA, FA and League cups in 2001. Inspired signing for Liverpool.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:17 pmGary McAllister was sensational that day. Huckerby didn’t play, might have been Robbie Keane who destroyed Davis.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 1:18 pmI was at that game in the main Coventry stand with a Cov supporting business acquaintance. Did we play Little on the left wing that day?

Re: We've beaten 4 PL sides in the FA Cup
We can now add Bournemouth to that list of PL scalps. So much nicer to be on the right side of an upset, although if it is regarded as an upset it is only a minor one given the respective league positions of both clubs.
