Mad or never played football if you don’t think Robbie Blake wouldn’t fit this side.Probably our most natural footballer in the last 40 odd years. You don’t need pace to play fast football.Pickles wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:10 amBlake would not suit this side at all. A good player, sure, an excellent one, one of our best. But not for this side. Not suited at all.
Danny Ings though? In this side? High press? Dropping deep? On the shoulder of the last man? Clinical? Tailor. Made. Yes please.

He doesn't suit this side, at all. Where's he gunna play? Wide? So much of our system is dependent on pace, with Zaroury, Benson or Tella getting chalk on their boots. Not Blake's game, never was. Upfront? Pretty obvious that Kompany has been using his number nine the same way Spurs use Kane - dropping deep, physical presence, distracting defenders, so the aforementioned wingers can do their thing beyond him. More Blake's game but the pressing and althleticism it demands isn't him. He's never been a number nine. He'd be knackered after five minutes with the pressing which would be demanded of him.Robbie_painter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:15 amMad or never played football if you don’t think Robbie Blake wouldn’t fit this side.Probably our most natural footballer in the last 40 odd years. You don’t need pace to play fast football.

Number 10 behind the striker in front of cork and Cullen.Sort of role that everyone is implying twine will play. You telling me twine is better than Blake was?Pickles wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:23 amHe doesn't suit this side, at all. I'm going off what and how we've played so far this season, with the ball, without the ball, formations and systems - and Blake doesn't fit it. The way of playing you describe - we haven't played it yet. And I think it's in part down to Twine not being strong enough off the ball, and the same would apply to Blake. No-one would argue against Blake being a magnificent footballer.

Fair comment,I’m fairly sure that any championship side would fit Robbie Blake in his prime in somewhere tho.Probably as I described.Pickles wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:37 amI'm going off what and how we've played so far this season, with the ball, without the ball, formations and systems - and Blake doesn't fit it. Don't get me wrong, wouldn't say no to seeing him back in his prime on the Turf. Same for Glen!Robbie_painter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:42 amFair comment,I’m fairly sure that any championship side would fit Robbie Blake in his prime in somewhere tho.Probably as I described.

Another vote for Brian O’Neill

Blake in the 10 spot. As said above you don't need to press or be quick when you have the intelligence and ability.

Robbie Blake is my favourite ever Claret but he definitely wouldn’t fit this side.
Defour has to be the one.

The one and only Frank Casper. He would have revelled in this current set up and scored goals galore.

On the BBC World Cup panel VK quite categorically stated that he needed players who could run with specific reference to Ronaldo.Robbie_painter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 12:15 amMad or never played football if you don’t think Robbie Blake wouldn’t fit this side.Probably our most natural footballer in the last 40 odd years. You don’t need pace to play fast football.

The obvious ones have all been mentioned but I would love to see Kevin Reeves in this side
