Re: RATE THE REF - David Webb v Coventry City
Apart from booking the wrong player who was wasting time (who already had a yellow and therefore should have been Red) I thought he was a very good Ref

Re: RATE THE REF - David Webb v Coventry City
One minute of added time for the first half was a joke. Missed the blatant shoulder into Jack then couldn't wait to card him for a challenge later. Had no idea what happened with Tella when the keeper should have been sent off. He booked the keeper for that incident but it should have been a second yellow because of his time wasting antics. Decisions to play advantage were abject. He pulled Coventry back instead of playing advantage and it was the only situation in the game when a side had advantage and it should have been allowed to go. Deliberately slowed the game by wandering into position before blowing the whistle. Booked the wrong Coventry lad for time wasting. Other than that he was fine.

Barely noticed he was on the pitch, which is the sign of a good performance

It seems that whenever somebody decides that a ref made the wrong decisions, which they're entitled to do, then they automatically mark them down on fitness alsoxxmunkyennuixx wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 7:14 pmOne minute of added time for the first half was a joke. His absence was for the better game.

That category also mentions positioning which was not great. At least two occasions in the way of play. He missed the incident with Tella because he was wandering to the centre not looking. Not sure whether the whistle taking ages to be blown was about his fitness level but it helped to slow the game and make it disjointed. He's a bad ref.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 7:20 pmIt seems that whenever somebody decides that a ref made the wrong decisions, which they're entitled to do, then they automatically mark them down on fitness also

I'm usually one of the first to slate a ref but fair do's, thought he had a decent game.

Did okay but should have booked their keeper long before the Tella incident at which point we’d then see if Webb had the balls to send their keeper off.

Reffed well, not a fan of him generally, bit fussy on throw ins and precise position of free kicks. Lackadaisical on the time wasting, good use of advantage and coming back to book players. Apart from the melee, had an easy game.

The booking of Cork was inconsistent as it was early in the game and he already let a Coventry player go for a similar foul. That now costs us Cork for two big games.
He was a slow ref, and he kept slowing the game down too much and being a bit fussy about quick free kicks. He told us to wait more than once while he got his notes written then ran back to centre. The top refs do that quickly.
He did OK, but by his normal levels, he isn’t the best ref in general.

Certainly one of the better refereeing performances at the Turf this season, although there wasn’t too much in the game to get wrong. The one major decision he had a make, when Tella and the keeper had their coming together, he got spot on.

The first one ( right on the edge of our box) he missed ball and man but it was still potentially a card.
This was his 2nd wild challenge in the first 10 minutes.
Let that go and you're in danger of the game getting out if control
( I'm a big fan of Cork btw)
