Always thought that. Like you I’d love to see a one stand type done with the Bob Lord and CFS. Corner filled in. Adds to the atmosphere and feel of the stadium I think. Really like Bramall Lane for that reason.

Yeah even the new disabled stands filling in the corners have added to the atmosphere I believe.

It’s made the ground look more ‘imposing’ if you will - along with the LEDs rather than advertisement boards.

If construction was required during the close season maybe a deal could be structured that Lowerhouse allow Burnley to play on their ground during the cricket season

Upstairs in the away end at QPR is pretty hairy.
Very little room between the rows of seats, almost have to sit sideways and very rickety. Don't like it at all.

It looks like they are the same height and pitch but oddly positioned with the Jimmy Mac off centre, making it hard to turn in to a corner stand. If that’s the case, exceptionally poor design and short-sighted.

I have to say, I don’t like our corner stands, aside from the obvious very important purpose they serve. And I think ALK have made the best of them by adding the curved screens and LED lighting. Sort of making a silk purse out of a sows ear stuff. Otherwise they just look like cheap bolt ons that no other team seem to need to need these to meet the accessibility requirements. I’d have far rather this money went towards more thoughtful redevelopment, but lacked ambition and proper investment imo.

I’m hoping that ALK have now been to Championship grounds and realised that TM is barely competitive with stadia in this league, never mind Premiership standard, and it gets the investment it deserves.

Agreed, and did note the very important purpose they serve.

I just think £10m (or whatever it was), could have been better invested in either one of our massively ageing stands, provided better viewing for disabled supporters and also brought all fans closer together.

I love the Cricket Ground next to the Turf, a reminder of our history and the clubs earliest days every time we pass it, I thought with the previous redesign (Retail park attached) it was sad that that would have to change if it was to go ahead.

I don’t think the CFS is dangerous as reported in the OP but neither is it a modern stand and if we rebuilt it today it should have a higher spec.

Wooden seats shouldn’t exist in modern day stadiums. They were talking about replacing it in 2007 and here we are 16 years later…!

And, in terms of comfort, wooden seats are superior to plastic.

Why would we do that, it will have a safety certificate to be in use.

I sat in the Bob lord for 4-5 years and I’m now back on the plastic seats in another stand, couldn’t really say which is more comfortable but you certainly have more room on the wooden seats (not an issue to me though as I’m small)

Modern stadium up-fits will be getting wooden seats and getting environmental points for choosing them over plastic, why replace the most generous seating at Turf?

The ground footprint of Turf Moor has plenty of scope for redevelopment without needing further land.

There is little point is raising seating capacity extensively because unless we are doing well the ground won’t be full.

For me the cricket club stays where it is and we work with them on a solution that benefits both.

I have to agree that the concourses need major work, not least staff training and stock levels.

Twice now I’ve had the last pie in the stand. There first time almost ended in a riot unsurprising given most of us had queued for the entirety of half time.

Confession. I watched the CFS being built in the late 60s when I was first going to games. I have NEVER set foot in it. Strange but true.

Started going in 1978… saw the milk cup Semi-Final v Liverpool, and against the United Youth where Scholes ran the show… from the CFS and that’s it.

I’m sure it could and the spend was very high given it would only benefit a small number of people. But we were paying the price for ignoring our disabled fans over many years. Legislation now demands you have a minimum number of disabled places, I think it’s over 140 at the Turf, and associated facilities such as proper toilets and changing places.

I went in the CFS with my dad when we had season tickets together when I was a lad, going back 30 years now. When it reopened to Clarets I moved back in there with my mates, and have sat (stood) in loads of different seats since. I love it in there, feels authentic and to me always with a bit of nostalgia also. When we are all at it, the atmosphere is electric. Me and my mates aren't trouble makers or hooligans, we sing, we shout, we celebrate and we all love it. Match day is special.

That said, the toilets are a joke, the catering even worse. Sad to say it, but it's probably time for a serious upgrade. Doesn't need to be enormous. 6000 safe standing spaces would be fine.
