He's been nowhere near it for a while now, that looks like a bit of a desperation signing to be honest

Still, clearly not working for him at Villa so good luck to him

That happened quickly.

I seem to remember his move to Villa coming out of nowhere too.

He doesn’t mess around.

Nice that he’s completed the full claret and blue set.

Is he the only player to ever don all three ‘famous’ claret and blues?

Emery clearly didn't see him as part of his long term plans. Not quite sure why, he's their top scorer this season despite largely being used from the bench. They don't have any other out and out strikers so he must have something lined up with the money

Fit and in form he could be a great signing.

6 league goals this season in 800 mins.
7 last season in 1900 mins.

If west ham play to his strengths then he'll drag them up the league.

7 in 21 for him this season, including 6 in the Prem, that's not too shabby halfway through the season.

West Ham need goals so I can see why Moyes thinks Ings is the answer.

The only other player I know is Gabor Kiraly but he was an emergency signing for West Ham because of an injury and didn't play.

As for Ings, not worked at Villa for him. Gerrard was looking to move him on and Emery has done just that. He's 30 now, maybe the injuries he's suffered are starting to affect him.

Villa clearly don't fancy him though

Maybe West Ham will play him in a front two, which I don't think Villa will?

Looked great for Villa at Turf last season.
Always thought they look a better side when he plays and he seems to be their only quality finisher.
Watkins goal scoring record is poor. Bailey has been injured a lot.
Seems strange they are getting rid of the striker who has the best record for them - but West Ham could benefit.

Good player but injuries always a massive concern with him - fans already frustrated with Cornet's extended absence might have a feeling of de ja vu.

David Unsworth similarly to Kiraly - Villa bought him but he left again before the season started as his family didn't like Birmingham and he moved back to Everton

Good shout - seem to remember he signed for Villa thinking it was a lot closer to Liverpool than it actually was so got himself another move.

That’s a good signing for West Ham, they’ve really struggled to score goals. He might be 30 but Ings is proven at that level and arguably exactly what Moyes needed.

£15 million for a 30 year old with a long history of injuries…For West Ham and most of Premier League it’s small change. For us it would be big money.

When I was growing up they didn’t wear claret and blue they wore red. Think they re-adopted claret and blue in the 80s sometime.

Liverpool to blame for it from what I'm told when they were trying to keep the compensation fee down.

Presumably signed to do what they'd hoped Max would do for them? A good investment if he stays fit and helps keep them up, but certainly a short term solution; given Danny's age and injury record it has to be seen as a risk.

Howe once said, as Rodriguez was close to heading out of the door, that he had a better player in the wings who would go on to have a better career. That player was Ings. He called it right.

In truth it will be years before we know what we have finally paid on some of these guys - simply as a result of sell on clauses. It is likely the Ings deal will not see him ever sold at a profit again

We are also not completely sure if the quoted prices for them included all the contingencies in the contracts, particularly in regards to promotion and subsequently staying up

Jay suffered that knee injury just as his star was rising and was never the same player afterwards, in all fairness.

They have both suffered serious injuries (Ings multiple, early and mid career) so the comparison remains pretty valid.

Not sure I agree that a sell on something we necessarily 'pay' when it is a function of profit made on a player. It's a function of a successful piece of business in the first place.

Could be an astute signing for West Ham they have to do something with their league position & January is a notoriously difficult window bagging themselves a proven pedigree striker could be all the difference with retaining their status.
