We couldn’t, could we?

Post by Dyched » Sat Jan 21, 2023 12:42 pm

27 Points available before going to Ewood

19 Clear of 3rd atm

24 Points available after going to Ewood

Promotion party in the Darwen End?

So we need to be 25 clear at FT to have the party?

Doable, I guess!

If it turns out we can win promotion at Ewood there will be more of us there than them. They won’t want to be present for it.

Would there be a pitch invasion? Eek.

From my perspective the season is quickly turning into a study of when and if we can win it at Ewood. Whether that be promotion or the league. It's possible and there could even be an absurd situation where I wouldn't mind us losing at some point before that game to keep the maths on our side. It could be an away day like no other.

Doesn't that assume that the 3rd place team pick up maximum points between now and then, (which is highly unlikely).

If the scenario comes about, there'll be Clarets banging on the Deadwood gates demanding to be let in.

And after 10 minutes, Rovers fans banging on the gates to be let out.

I can imagine some ‘We’re not really here’ chants if the day comes

As mentioned in another thread ,if us or Blackburn were to make it into the F.A cup qtr finals then this match will get moved.

We basically have to gain another 3 points over 3rd place by the time we play them.

Unlikely as we speak, but if one or other of us makes the FA Cup Quarter Finals, then it's entirely possible that the rearranged date could see us potentially get either promoted or crowned as Champions, depending on the date ...

As an aside, at least 7 Non Premier League Clubs will make the last 16 due to the vagaries of the draw ...

This could be a repeat of a true occurence. In the 70s Rovers were not doing well and my Mums boss had given up on them. He was persuaded by a friend to go this particular Saturday, a home game against Portsmouth. Things had not improved and they were 2-0 down at half time so he decided enough was enough. Sadly the exit gates were all locked and there was nobody with a key so he had to stand by them until 15 minutes from full time to get out and go home!
I think the final score was 3-0

I wonder if there was a "gentlemans rush" that day.

Or, they turn up in their droves and give it everything to spur their team on to not let it happen. Might be the only thing they have to hang on to this season.

It's possible from a football point of view, we're certainly good enough to open up a 25 point gap

But the chances of us being between 1 and 3 points short of promotion, on that exact day in the future are pretty slim.

It's a nice dream but too many moving parts really.

I remember them singing "we're having a party when Burnley go down" last time they beat us.

So I'd quite like a rendition of "we're having a party when Burnley go up" at Ewood :)

    Just for old times sake

    And also singing:

"East Lancashire's ours, East Lancashire's ouuurs,
    We're Burnley FC
    East Lancashire's ours "

Will go down really well 😃

Guys nothing in life is so perfect, we're going to do it against Hull the game before and it's going to make me very sad.

Does that mean they'll give us a guard of honour at Ewood? :D

Isn't that for a team who are Champions?
