Our last two championship campaigns

Post by AGENT_CLARET » Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:04 am

Under Dyche we lost a total of five games all season both time's we played at this level, we've lost just twice so far this season, so do you think this can be beaten or at least matched by Kompany

Who knows but if we keep this gap between us and third place there is a danger once promotion is secured we may take our foot off the gas

I hope not, it never happened under Dyche so I can't see Kompany letting it happen to this team especially if we're going for a points record

I don't sense we'll drop off under VK even once promotion is secured, and there is still the small matter of a title to fight for.

City never dropped off that I can recall when they'd romped to their titles, and VK doesn't strike me as the type to allow standards to slip.

This^

Part of me is hoping the Blades keep winning, just to prevent any complacency slipping in and ensure we go into next season with momentum.

Only a small part, though. I think I’d rather they started losing a few so we can get the title wrapped up nice and early.

At least Sheff Utd are keeping us honest, otherwise it would be a procession until the end of the season, which although enjoyable would lack the edge genuine competition brings.

It's definitely feasible that we will lose less than three games between now and the end of the season.

I don't see VK allowing standards to drop once promotion is secured. And if any players did lose intensity, there's a whole squad waiting to step in - some of whom may be trying to prove their value to keep for next year.

If/when promotion is secured we will have a head start in terms of PL preparation so don't expect to see any drop in levels

And just to think:

We had a paper thin squad in 2013/14 and had to scrape £350,000 to buy Sir Ashley Barnes. Ryan Noble, anybody?

We did not play particularly well in 2015/16 until the Boxing Day debacle at Hull.

We didn't start this season playing anywhere near to where we are now as the players were all learning the system.

I also think that the attendance number's are up on the previous season's. Probably confirming the entertainment value of this season.
