Poor team choice first half.

BPF 8
Al-Dakhil 8
Taylor 7
Roberts 7
Cork 3 didn't move more than 50 yds in first 15 mins
Bastien 5 not impressing me
Maatsen 6 loads of sloppy passes
Vitinho 5 becoming the next Graham Branch
Tella 9
Forster 5 not a £10m player
Twine 7 tried but won't break through

Brownhill 8
Cullen 9
Churlinov 7 needs to play more

Wrong tactics and players first half.

BPF - 7
Roberts - 6
Al Dakhil - 8 looks decent for his age
Taylor - 5 he’s not a centre back
Maatsen - 7
Cork - 5 very poor game again
Bastien - 5 same as Cork
Twine - 6 had limited options around him but did ok
Tella - 9 match winner and MOTM for that reason
Vitinho - 6
Foster - 6 got an assist, looks like it will take time to adjust like the others. Hope injury isn’t serious.

Brownhill - 7
Cullen - 8 he’s our best midfielder
Churlinov - 7 seems to have some good runs in him but end product let’s him down.

BPF 7..decent enough. Not a great deal to do. Obviously is not Muric when it comes to distribution but did OK
Roberts 6..average night playing conservatively
Al-Kadhil 8...thought he deserved MoM. Looked calm and assured. Looked slightly out-muscled at times nut he's a good player I think.
Taylor 5...I like him but tonight I really have to agree with those who criticise hm for slow movement of the ball
Maatsen 4 ..honestly thought he had a nightmare. Lost count of the number of bad touches and poor passes . And after being so excellent recently too.
Vitinho 5... very poor indeed first half. Bit better second half when he got past his man once or twice but rightly hooked.
Cork 6...steady but average. Inevitable booking.
Bastien 6...very average I thought. Doesn't play in the same way as Cullen , dropping deep and collecting the ball, so we seemed to have a very flat midfield with too big a gap from the CBs
Twine 6...bit disappointed he didn't have more creative impact. I think the idea was for him to be linking with Foster but it just didn't happen
Tella 8... great finisher and our main threat
Foster 5...I'm a bit worried about him considering the money we've paid as seems too lightweight to trouble CBs and didn't show great touch. Encouragingly he started to look better once we improved our midfield with the substitutions and hope it was only cramp and nothing significantly worse.

Cullen 8..made a huge difference and his absence before he came on only served to highlight how important he is to us
Brownhill 7.. added energy and bite when we needed it to finish strongly
Churlinov 7...offered more than Vitinho though could do with a bit more pace
JBG 6..a few nice touches. Maybe because he was on the other side of the pitch to me I cant remember too much about his contribution though tbh
Barnes..not on long enough to score but everything he did was good, including his role in the winning goal

I think the young kid at the back showed promise looked composed and showed a bit of strength...but I hope Bobby Thomas gets a chance in the cups next season..we need to see what he can do at Burnley...

For me Twine, Bastien, Foster, Darko the jury is still out... hopefully they will show something before the end of the season ...

The team did well to keep going...never looked like losing...but thought extra time was a sure thing ....

Think probably Ipswich deserved another 30 minutes

Peacock-Farrell 7 a very competent no 2
Roberts 6 - not his best game started slow
Al-Dakhil 8 - showing promise and has potential
Taylor 6 - ponderous at times , does nt get close to being a centre back starter with our options
Maatsen 6 - put a shift in Saturday and maybe impacted him today
Cork 6 - there 23 had him in his pocket till being subbed
Bastien 5 - not sure what his role his
Vitinho 6 - poor by previous standards
Tella 8 - best first touch , ive ever seen from a claret
Twine 7 - made some good runs but a cork - bastion -twine - Vitinho middle is not optimum for him
Foster 5 - looked to be struggling with shape pace and his role

Brownhill 7 - brought urgency
Cullen 8 - heartbeat of the team
Churlinov 6 - faded after his first ten minutes
JBG 8 - his crosses into box , passes and forward movement upped pace and show what he was given a contract extension
Barnes -7 put himself about and is probably our line leader at moment based on performance

Don’t think Bobby Thomas will be at Burnley next season. He’s pushing 23 now and I imagine he will want to move on and play regular like Jimmy Dunne did. Bristol Rovers fans didn’t seem to think much of him either.

I think Foster will come good. Zaroury/Benson took a few games to get going and I think it will be same for him. Hopefully injury isn’t bad!

BPF - 7
Roberts - 6
Al-Dakhil - 8
Taylor - 4
Maatsen - 6
Vitinho - 6
Bastien - 4
Cork - 5
Tella - 7
Twine - 5
Foster - 4

Cullen - 7
Churlinov - 6
Brownhill - 5

To summarise
Charlie Taylor is not a CH and is so slow in possession
Al-Dakhil looks promising
Cork is lost without Cullen/Brownhill and vice versa
Bastien is miles away from being in the 1st 11
Twine is a bit lightweight
Foster looks miles behind the curve. Fingers crossed he improves and the injury isn’t too serious
We have an amazing opportunity to get to the FA Cup quarters

Some harsh marks for Twine, I thought he did ok with what he had to work with. The midfield was poor first half.

Foster struggled first half but he was trying to do everything at 100 mile an hour. He settled second half, was more composed with the ball and could have been played in more than once.

Taylor has found himself as 4th choice I think and it’s all because he’s so slow with the ball. The others are better than him in possession.

Cork is another concern. Is the season catching up with him? His bookings are becoming more stupid the more games we play.

Taylor 6
Maatsen 6
Cork 5
Bastien 5
Vitinho 6
Twine 5
Tella 8 great pace and composed one on one mom
Foster 5 needs time

Subs

Cullen 8 the right sub looked a different side with him in it
Brownhill 6
Churlinov 7 did well and got us on the front foot

A tough game. They were a good side. Usual slick passing game was missing first half but we improved vastly with the triple substitution.

BPF - 7

Roberts - 6
Al-Dakhil - 9* - looks a gem of a signing. Calm, composed. Read the game well
Taylor - 5 - simply refused to use the space in front of him when on the ball
Maatsen - 5

Cork - 5
Bastien - 4 - the effort is there but he’s just not at the level of those around him I’m afraid
Twine - 7 - was surprised he got pulled, may be in a minority with that comment but felt he was just starting to pull the strings a bit the second half

Vitinho - 4
Foster - 5 - glimpses. Early days
Tella - &

Cullen - 8
Brownhill - 6
Churlinov - 4

Peacock-Farrell 7 handled well
Roberts 6 steady though not a busy night .
Al-Dakhil 7 certainly calm though maybe outmuscled a bit
Taylor 5 square peg round hole for Charlie -OK
Maatsen 5 sloppy passing though sweet through ball for 1st
Cork 6 poor start but steadied
Bastien 6 ok I guess but doesn’t seem to
Vitinho 5 he’s not a right winger
Tella 8 2 goals and class for 2nd . He’s prem quality
Twine 5 big lightweight though needs time
Foster 5 very early days but showed nowt

Brownhill 6
Cullen 7
Churlinov 6

** missed both early goals

We only really showed up in the last 15 against a lively but average Ipswich . 5th round it is

Disjointed until the subs came on with an inability to play the ball out. Slightly reminiscent of earlier games in the season and shows how difficult it is to play the way we do

I didn't think Vitinho did as badly as some of the scores reflect. It's not his natural position. He was part of the build up in the move for the first goal and generally one of the few players who genuinely tried to keep the ball moving forwards, even though it didn't always come off, especially first half.

The snap judgements on here are a bit harsh. By and large the whole side looked a bit rusty, but that’s understandable given the number of players who either haven’t played much or have only recently joined.

If I’d have seen Maatsen, Cork, Taylor or Vitinho for the first time last night I could easily write them off, because they were all well below the standards they’ve consistently performed at this season.

A struggle at times tonight. Credit to Ipswich who were up for it. We gave away a really poor goal.
Too many changes for us, but we still found a way!

BPF - 7 - a good couple of saves, distribution mixed
Roberts - 5 - I thought he was poor tonight, sloppy passing and poor positional play
Maatsen - 6 - Not sure what role he was asked to play. Full back, but midfield left too? Got caught out for their goal
Al-Dakhil - 8 (MOM) Nervous start, but grew into the game and dealt well with their physical presence
Taylor - 5 - Another poor performance from Taylor who just doesn't look happy at centre half sometimes. Passing and distribution woeful.
Cork - 5 - Couldn't get going. Another silly booking
Bastien - 5 - I want Samuel to do well, but he drifts around and doesn't contribute enough.
Twine - 6 - He struggles with the physical stuff, which is a surprise, given he's played in league 1. Will do better with better players around him.
Vitinho - 6 - He worked hard and tried to get us going. He's not a natural winger and was asked to take on that role last night?
Tella - 8 - Great finish to win it. Worked really hard and always posed a threat. Should he have had a penalty?
Foster - 5 - Working out how to fit into this team. Coming short and linking up doesn't look like his game. Hope he's not injured.

Cullen - 7 - Re-set the midfield and got us going forward
Brownhill - 7 - See Cullen
Churlinov - 6 - Started well but made the wrong decisions a couple of times with crossing and passing.

Not a great watch if we are being honest

Clearly a fair few of our players struggled with both Ipswich press and decision making, and it was frustrating how many of them would do the hard thing and then mess up a very simple pass, but unless they play, then they won't improve

Ipswich became the latest side to attempt to time waste for the entire 2nd half and for it to blow up in their face at the end, and I think if they'd gone for it they might well have won

Barnes, Brownhill, Cullen, JBG, Churilnov all made a difference, and provided some much needed aggression and mobility

Still, we are through, and that is all that matters

BPF 8 - good save in the 2nd half, good with his feet again
Maatsen 5 - wasn't good, and back to his shocking defending days unfortunately
Al-Dakhil 8* - looks a player absolutely no doubt about it
Taylor 6 - Not sure he gets in ahead of the other four CHs to be honest
Roberts 6 - started poorly but does a lot of stuff with no fuss
Cork 5 - another silly booking and looks a bit leggy at the moment
Bastien 5 - does something great, and then messes up the easy bit, drifts through games it has to be said
Twine 6 - some great runs, but again, has to deal a bit better with the physicality at this level
Vitinho 5 - amazed he lasted past half time, but was a bit better 2nd half
Tella 8 - two good goals, certainly our only attacker to cause them problems all game
Foster 5 - needs game time, but also he has to show more than this

Cullen 7
Brownhill 7
Churlinov 7

Subs changed the game

I didn't think Vitinho did as badly as some of the scores reflect. It's not his natural position. He was part of the build up in the move for the first goal and generally one of the few players who genuinely tried to keep the ball moving forwards, even though it didn't always come off, especially first half.

I thought the effort was there but most things didn't work for him and he just didn't look comfortable to me out there. I like Vitinho - you get a shift from him wherever he plays.

Who has written him off? The ratings are just acknowledging that he didn't play well in a completely new environment. I can't see anyone really writing him off.

Yes - staggering. Thought his movement was half decent, the flicks and touches just didn't come off. He will improve. 1st minute assist seems to have been largely forgotten.

Just watched that goal again, it's definitely an intentional touch to Tella and a clever, quick thinking assist.

BPF - 8 -> MOM for me with his saved
Roberts - 6 > good game. He also had banter with the fans in Bob lord nloxk one, shouted something along the lines of ‘the ref has got his Ipswich shirt on’ after the penalty shout on Tella.
Al-Dakhil - 6 -> impressed with him, think ekdal may be slightly better.
Taylor - 4 -> he’s not a centre back, simple
Maatsen - 5 -> I thought he had a ok game
Vitinho - 6 -> I couldn’t see his role tonight,
Bastien - 5 -> what role was he playing? Can’t see him being a CDM.
Cork - 5 -> Cullen makes him better, looks lost without him
Tella - 7 -> solid performance, 2 top goals
Twine - 5 -> ok, needs mintues
Foster - 5-> need to see him with benson and Zaroury

Cullen - 8 -> changed the game
Churlinov - 6
Brownhill - 8 -> our best player all throughout the season; 100% will be difficult to keep him

Agree entirely. The guy has just moved to a completely new environment with a new set of players and coaches to work with, playing a totally different system in far more challenging league/cup matches. Cut him some slack. He'll look a different player in a months time.

Despite Fosters assist, he struggled to get into the game.

Twine showed for the ball but his control was way below standard. He did make some good runs and quick lay offs but needs to work on that glaring problem.

Hopefully nothing too serious and just a case of nerves.

I don't think he is being written. Off, apart from the odd one or two. Mostly, the mark reflects what happened.

Just a heads up to those who didn’t go, the full match replay is now on Clarets player. I won’t add ratings as it’s probably already been calculated but a few comments from my end after watching…

Firstly, after seeing these ratings on the night I was expecting to watch a cup performance akin to Lincoln/Huddersfield etc, yet, we weren’t bad at all? Ratings of 4s for players? I’d hate to see what ratings people will give when we actually play badly and lose a game. Jeez.

Comments about Twine being lightweight, I’m genuinely baffled… I was expecting to see him and Foster bullied all night, but it simply wasn’t the case at all? Twine actually played quite well, misplaced one pass all night and linked play nicely in some good pockets. Foster got better as the night went on and showed glimpses.

Admittedly we were sloppy in the first half with some passing, particularly Taylor and Bastien, while Vitinho’s end product all night was a bit disappointing, but he isn’t a left winger. Tella had a good game albeit guilty himself of some sloppy play at times. Al-Dakhil is a really nice prospect, defensively quick and used the ball quite well.

I wouldn’t have rated anyone less than a 6 on that showing and thought overall it was fully deserved win.
