Tom Hark and Goal Music
It's not a quiz, I don't know the answers, but I found myself humming the Tom Hark tune earlier and realised I'd not heard it for a while so;
What goal was the first time we played Tom Hark?
What goal was the last time we played Tom Hark?
What was the first away ground we Clarets fans heard goal music?
What was the last away ground we Clarets fans heard goal music?
Has it generally run its course as an early 00's thing? I can't recall hearing any Premier League grounds having goal music over the last few years, but I don't get to away games so I have no idea if it's still extant in places like Coventry or Luton.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
We didn’t concede but they still play goal music at Norwich.
Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
It wasn’t goal music but I do recall Lincoln playing an air raid siren every time they got a corner!

Goal music is cringe and thankfully a thing of the past.

Never liked goal music, it's tacky at every level.

Did they when they were in the Premier League (i.e against us last April?).ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:01 pmWe didn’t concede but they still play goal music at Norwich.
I watched it in the pub but can't recall.

Goal music, drummers and half-and-half scarves .
Bury em all in landfill.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
They suspended the air raid siren last season and playing the Dam Busters March as a mark of respect following the invasion of Ukraine. However, both were reinstated this season.
They’ve been doing that a long time, we’ve not played there since 1999 and they used the siren then.

It met surprising levels of defenders, but thank god we finally got rid of that. Imagine some of the spontaneous moments of joy, like Twine’s FK, that would have been drowned out by that shite.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
I was only a kid but I'm sure I can remember us playing Tom Hark in the early to mid 90s. Maybe at half time or full time if we won?

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
Remember when the club said they were keeping the goal music as they knew the fans liked it because they were dancing and cheering whenever it was played?

I can't hear this song on the radio without getting flashbacks to the horrific 4 nil defeat in 2011. Absolutely dogger that day.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
It began as entrance music as I recall. We played it around 1989 for a couple of seasons, and I’m reasonably convinced it was right up until Simply The Best took over. I can’t remember the season it became goal music though. Maybe it was also played after a win as well?

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
I'd like to see goal celebration music reinstated but with the addition of the anti climatic sound of a needle being dragged across the vinyl when VAR rules it out

Didn’t they also say they’d done a survey one year and nobody, and I mean nobody, knew anything about it.

We started off playing Tom hark after we won a game and not a goal. It was around 00/01 season. First away ground I heard goal music was the Scunthorpe away game 99/00 season.

You can hear it being played before one of the games (chesterfield ?) on the “Burnley are back” 1992 video

Was proper dross was goal music. It seemed like one of those things where everyone you met felt the same but the club persisted with it nonetheless.

I thought Leicester played the song that the Gudmundson chant is from? They did earlier in the season unless they have changed it.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
In in PL from next season this will be played after every goal... sometimes on a loop,,, for VAR
https://www.google.com/search?q=countdo ... 2dhD9zR6hk
With a split screen focussed close ups of both managers shown on the big screens with scrolling Betting adverts below and more adverts all over every annoying LED Ad' Screen around the ground...
Then the final outcome will be delayed like a TV game show for suspense ...
Then finally either a Green or Red smoke / powder canon is fired.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
During a VAR check they should play hold music, like when you're on the phone to the doctors.

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
I have in my head 1 game (it may have been Leeds) and we were way behind. Seem to think we pulled a goal back late on and they still played the goal music much to the amusement of the away fans.
Thankfully this tinpot carry on has been removed from the ground on a matchday

Re: Tom Hark and Goal Music
I remember a similar experience. We were 5-1 down to Reading at home and Dean West pulled one back to make it 2-5. They then played Tom Hark over the tannoy.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 8:41 amI have in my head 1 game (it may have been Leeds) and we were way behind. Noticed on MOTD Leicester play goal music. Must have run out of clackers!
