Norwich charged by FA
They’ve been charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.
It was the incident when they harangued the referee after not being given a penalty. The referee took no action at the time.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
I didn't notice anything untoward that would warrant a charge??

Mobbing the ref after the so-called Ash Barnes penalty incident.

Sorry, it was the "penalty" that was so-called, not Ash Barnes.

It’s about time the powers that be started doing something about this.
Re: Norwich charged by FA
And after all that it was the correct decision not to award it.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
It was definitely the right decision, but you can understand why they were appealing.
Seems a bit strange as if anything untoward was said, the ref would have dealt with it at the time.

Me neither.
Alright, yes they mobbed the ref, but i don't think it was worse than anything we've seen lots of times in games, unless i missed something.
If this is now to be applied across the board then fair enough.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
It was very much an over the top reaction from Norwich players. It was never a pen, and they were also 0-3 down, it wasn’t 0–0 or 0-1.
BPF would have saved it anyway

Re: Norwich charged by FA
I always thought it was when a team got six bookings in one game, as that's more than half the team.
Re: Norwich charged by FA
It's just an extra fine. You don't have to make an appearance and answer for it.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:41 pmI always thought it was when a team got six bookings in one game, as that's more than half the team.
Those hearings are really annoying. The worst I had to go to involved a ref that was under 18. He was old enough to ref a game at step 5, and to tell the hearing what he thought of player x but we were not allowed to ask him a question at the hearing as he was a minor.

maybe it is Always though it's a daft thing anyway because most refs book players for nothing nowadaysfidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:41 pmI always thought it was when a team got six bookings in one game, as that's more than half the team.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
The FA threshold around controlling your players is either 6 booking or 4 bookings and a mob the ref. I think if you mob the ref three times in one game you automatically get a charge regardless of bookings
Re: Norwich charged by FA
I've been pretty shocked with Jurgen Klopp and his behaviour toward match officials on the touch line mid-game.
I have a relative who is a qualified referee who up until recently has acted as referee in kids footbal. He quit due to the intolerable behaviour of parents.
When you see the behaviour of Klopp it's hardly a surprise that parents begin to think that it is acceptable.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
I was there and I didn't think it looked that bad
I think the referee called it right on the penalty
As others have said if any Norwich players crossed the line you'd assume the referee would have taken action against them - he produced 8(?) yellows during the game
Maybe it was because it was on Sky that it has been highlighted

Re: Norwich charged by FA
It was their most positive act in the match!
Re: Norwich charged by FA
I don't think there needs to be a problem with what any of the Norwich players individually said or did. The problem is that they surrounded the ref en masse and that's what they're trying to stop.
Re: Norwich charged by FA
£20,000 fine probably
Where are they going to find such a large amount of money !!

Re: Norwich charged by FA
We had a good view of it from the away section. I just thought it was funny. Under no circumstances would it have changed his mind. Surely an over-reaction from the FA?

Re: Norwich charged by FA
This mobbing of the referees is unacceptable and it will soon stop with all these charges.
The amount of the fine is not the talking point. Some might think this amount of money is minimal but there is more to it than that. I don’t expect the Norwich players to repeat their action.
Some managers make it clear to their players that it’s not what they want, at the moment too many managers don’t.
This is for those managers !

Yes,definitely need charging,I'm absolutely sure if the rolls were reversed we wouldn't have done that.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
I’ve noticed, the last fortnight the refs have been booking the third player to approach them. Reportedly one of Howard Webbs ideas. Not a bad one but the only player to speak to the ref should be the nearest or the captain.
Re: Norwich charged by FA
Wasn't one of the Wolves players sent off for exactly that last week at Southampton. He was already on a yellow and was the 3rd player to approach the Aussie ref who we had recently.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 8:20 pmI’ve noticed, the last fortnight the refs have been booking the third player to approach them. Re: Norwich charged by FA
Even if there is any truth at all in what they claim, it wouldn't amount to more than an informal viewpoint from someone who said "I would have given it". If you asked every league referee with all the TV coverage to go at, if they thought it was a penalty, you wouldn't get a definitive consensus.pureclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 7:45 pmNorwich claim that the EFL confirmed he should have given the penalty
Besides which, they would still have lost.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
the only way it stops is if the players have to pay the 10K between them, if the club pays it it's irrelevant
Re: Norwich charged by FA
Wasn't Roberts booked for being the third one on Tues?
Re: Norwich charged by FA
I did wonder that myself and it would make sense. I’ve always thought that the referee should go into both dressing rooms before the game and spell out what he expects from the players and how/reasons why they will get booked. Lay it on the line from the off and then there’s no excuse.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
Have they told anyone else about this, given everyone including the players were mystified when that wolves player was sent off for being 3rd last week?Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 8:20 pmI’ve noticed, the last fortnight the refs have been booking the third player to approach them. What an idiotic approach.
Why the 3rd player? And what if there's a 4th etc?
These bozos really don't help themselves.

Re: Norwich charged by FA
Indeed. Referee's aren't going to get respect if they send off relative nobodies like Lemina for being the 3rd man, but allow Andy Robertson to have a tantrum whenever he wants.
