Was in corporate today, lesson learnt for others
I was in corporate today in the north stand. Lesson for others going in there.
Opened a bar tab, they lock your card away at the bar and give you a tab with a number.
Makes it easy as you just give the number when you want more drinks.
Unfortunately when I went to pay at the end, someone had put £140 of drinks on my tab number.
Luckily the lass had taken the last order of 5 shots and knew it was not me who ordered. She sorted it very professionally and cannot praise her enough.
But lesson learnt, do not do a bar tab in corporate. It’s not secure enough.

I had completely the opposite experience. Got absolutely rat-arsed with 9 mates and when we got the tab at the end it was only £12.50.

That’s a poor do by the staff and they need to have a system in place to stop this. It’ll cost the club money if they don’t and it’s not rocket science.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 8:49 pmI was in corporate today in the north stand. Lesson for others going in there.

Like I said, the lass had served the 5 shots on the bill and went and spoke to the guy who ordered them and accepted he had given the wrong number.
It was corrected in a professional manner.
I just think it should not have happened.
I know the company who invited me will be giving feedback.
I just would not do a tab again.

I went to a Melbourne Storm RL game in corporate. Same set up, one big room the length of the pitch. Every group entering were given a coloured wrist band. That colour was assigned to your tab, only people with the right colour could order drinks.

As Rammy says, if there are bar tabs there are also ways of ensuring that only those who are authorised can put charges on your tab. Some bars you can restrict by requiring the right name on the credit card. Others there is one or two tokens that have a particular number on it that must be shown when ordering against that tab. Also a good idea to collect receipts as you go along. These will always help sort any questions out when you come to settle, just in case any of bar staff get mixed up with the tab they are putting an order on.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 10:30 pmI went to a Melbourne Storm RL game in corporate. The last item on the bill was 5 shots, there were about another 6 orders they had put on my tab, but she served it and remembered he gave the number of my tab.
She went to talk to the guy who admitted the mistake and said to move it to his tab.

This bar tab number thing, it isn’t 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…. And so on is it? So the first to open one gets 1 the next get given 2 and so forth?
I really hope it isn’t. Would be hilarious if it is like that though!

But it seems secure at the start.
They lock your card in secure plastic container and lock it behind the bar and give you a plastic tab with a number on it.
The lass who served us asked to see the tab twice and from then on she had remembered it.
No idea how the othe person knew or just made a mistake.

Re: Was in corporate today, lesson learnt for others
I am always in corporate at most home and away games. The bar tab is picked up by the box owner because he wants to entertain his clients.
If you are in corporate and can't cover a £140 bar tab maybe you are in the wrong place.
Occasionally I will wander to a seat in the BL to interact with the great unwashed and attempt to educate them in the way of the offside rule

Well it’s now a table not a box, but you should know that as you’re in there most games.brexit wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 11:42 pmI am always in corporate at most home and away games. The bar tab is picked up by the box owner because he wants to entertain his clients.

Our employer didn’t want to pick up the bar bill which I am 100% ok with.
I could easily afford an extra £140 bar tab, but why should I, we didn’t have the drinks.
You sound like a person who would put his bill on some else’s.
Perhaps the person thought he could get away with it, you seem to imply that.
Re: Was in corporate today, lesson learnt for others
Can you afford to have your car stolen? If so, then I presume you wouldn't object if someone stole it!
Just because theft doesn't bankrupt you doesn't mean it should be encouraged. I hope the bar staff will keep a very close eye on the "accidental" wrong number orderer in future.
