Purely from a golfing perspective, Tiger. He's hit some shots that we've never seen before when it matters most.

Miguel Angel Jimenez or Beeeeeef!

Only because I can claim I have the body of a professional sportsperson, whilst only dreaming of a modicum of their ability, thanks to them

Beef is a quality lad. Played junior golf with him and he hasn't changed a bit it seems.

I went a Pro/am at Adare Manor many years back. Samuel L. Jackson never shut up and he was hilarious. So good I followed his group for 3 or 4 holes.

In my time…

Ernie Els (so chilled and watchable)

David Duval (dialled in…I watched his 59 live…one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in sport).

Rick Fowler

John Daly for me.
Followed him round for a good while at Birkdale with his fairly rowdy entourage on the Wednesday practice round in 1998 and was captivated by how much of a maverick, a Punk, a rock 'n' roller, a hedonist the guy is.
Not the best or most successful player, but lives his life like a rock band front man.

honorable mention for Payne Stewart, who would be on my list but Trevino and Player would be at the top.

Can't believe David Duval got a mention. O)k he got a 59 but he has to be one of the most boring golfers on the planet. Have you ever seen him smile?

Seve & Mickelson from my era.

A few years ago I was standing in a queue to pick up some credentials for an event. Was having a nice friendly natter with this old bloke in line with me. I kept thinking ‘your face looks familiar, but I just can’t place you’. When we got to the front of the line a girl says “Mr Palmer we are so honored to have you here with us today” and the penny dropped, it was Arnold Palmer!

Van de Velde's got to be worth an honourable mention for his open fiasco in the late nineties when Lawrie won it; defeat from the jaws of victory and all that. Greg Norman imploding on his final round at Augusta to let faldo catch him was memorable too.

Jiminez is a brilliant character
Seve was fantastic to follow around the course - I did it at Lytham many years ago and it was extremely entertaining. The shots he was going for - partly because he often found himself in trouble - were a joy to behold.

I saw Dustin Johnson at the open a couple of years ago and he is very relaxed and entertaining on the course. He’s giving high fives to the gallery on the tees just as he’s teeing up…..and then to stand there and watch him hit his driver is pretty incredible.

Ernie Els was good fun in the match plays down at Wentworth - he loved it there (his golf course) so maybe he was a bit more relaxed but he was great with the crowd.

Tiger is the best player in history but he’s very serious on the course and his entourage and security means you can’t get near him anyway.

As for Arnold Palmer I met him at St Andrews on the Wednesday practice day….the day was virtually a washout with very few players venturing out. It was throwing it down, windy etc. I was on a corporate event and was just walking along outside back to our car with one other person - the place was deserted and we then realised walking towards us on his own was Arnie. It was a surreal moment - he stopped and chatted about the weather for a minute to us. The guy I was with had his mouth open - Arnie was his hero. The day had been a disaster up to that point !!
