Re: 9 more wins
Very much doubt we’ll need 9 wins tbh. 9 wins gets us to 96 points……..which is way more than what you normally need to get out of this league. However, I hope we win at least that number of games between now and the season end!

Re: 9 more wins
Maximum points the rest of top 8 can get:
Sheff Utd = 106
Middlesbrough = 96
Luton = 95
Sunderland = 93
Watford = 89
Millwall = 94
Blackburn = 91
We won’t need 9 wins or 96 points for promotion.

Luton's manager was Watford's manager when they beat us so he could become the first manager to beat us twice

Re: 9 more wins
Unless either Sheff. United and/or Middlesbrough
go on the sort of run of wins we have over the last 10/11 games
then I doubt we'll need 9 more wins.
We would also need to have a really bad run.
So I think 6 more wins and say 4 draws would suffice.
That would take us up to 91 points, me thinks.
Surely enough for promotion if not top spot.

Re: 9 more wins
There’s no doubt about it. After Sheffield United, Middlesbrough are the only team who can get to 96 (our tally if we won 9 and lost 6 of our last 15 games). To get to 96 points Middlesbrough would need to win all 14 of their remaining games.jurek wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 10:25 pmUnless either Sheff. United and/or Middlesbrough

It’s likely that no more than mid 80s will be tally required to finish second. We’re likely to need 4-5 wins and a handful of draws max.

Re: 9 more wins
We certainly won't need another 9 wins, probably 6/7 max and the way Sheff Utd are slowly slipping away maybe not even that amount.
Re: 9 more wins
9 more wins was the target we had to get if borough won all their games.

Re: 9 more wins
I've been working on around 83 points to go up for a few weeks now. Sheffield United would need 23 points from 15 games to get to 84 while Middlesbrough would need 30 points from 14 games. Middlesbrough's run might just have lifted it from 83 but I'm not sure it will be by too many. I do think four or five wins will do it but I think we'll get much more than that.agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 10:29 pmThere’s no doubt about it. Most bookies have already paid out on us going up. William Hill paid out today.

Did they really? I'm no gambler but what would happen if we didn't go up, having bookies just paid out too early to people who wouldn't otherwise have won?Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 11:12 pmMost bookies have already paid out on us going up. William Hill paid out today.

Re: 9 more wins
Yep I was surprised to see it. I can’t remember what company it was the other year but they had terms that paid out on a 10 point lead 1st-2nd, paid out and the team didn’t go up. We were 1/200 on Sky Bet at the weekend so no surprise to see the bookies doing it now to open the market out without us in it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 11:16 pmDid they really? Re: 9 more wins
Bet365 payout for league winner bets when a team is 10 points clear of all the other teams having played the same amount of games. Here’s hoping it happens this weekend. I have a few small accas across some of the leagues and they actually paid out on Dumbarton in Scottish league 2 back in November when the season was little more than a third old. It’s just like they payout on win bets when a team goes 2 goals up, great when it happens tbh.

Re: 9 more wins
After 23 games I predicted the remaining results and have us to finish on 96 points. After 8 of the remaining 23 games I am 9 points BEHIND my prediction i.e. on track for 105 points at the moment !! My remaining predictions also include defeat away to Rovers and draws against Blackpool, Reading and Sheffield United !!
Re: 9 more wins
There’s no chance that VK will allow the standards to slip. Every time this season we put in a relatively poor/tepid performance the next few have been electric again.

I think it was Paddy Power who paid out on Liverpool winning the league last season... on the first day of the season
Suppose it got people talking so it was free publicity. They probably earned more than they lost from it in the end.
I think they also paid out on Arteta being the next manager to be sacked at one point.

Re: 9 more wins
Fred Done lost £500,000 in 1998 when he paid out early on Manchester United winning the title. They were 12 points clear of Arsenal who then went on to win the title by a single point.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 11:16 pmDid they really?
