All NWCL games off this weekend as bad weather is expected to play havoc in pitch preparation.

Padiham have signed Jonny Whitehead from Southport which should see them challenge at the top of the league this season. Adding to an already half decent side.

Brilliant signing is Jonny, was talking to his Dad at weekend and he mentioned he wasn’t full time pro anywhere this year, I imagine he will sub-pro a few games when they’ve no game (not sure on the rules around that). I’ll aim to get up to Padiham for a game this season, haven’t been up for years.

You can't play for anyone as an amateur in the same season you pro/sub Pro.

One of the lads was telling me he had sub pro jobs available at the beginning and end of the season but would have to miss a big chunk in the middle.

Did think I’d heard something like that a few years back but wasn’t sure if you could still pro in other leagues, fair play if he just wants to play with his mates

Great to be back and see everyone! Looks a low scoring afternoon across the board so well done to the ground staff for getting it on.
Strong Lowerhouse side today, good to get off to a a good start. Hopefully the weather is kind this year because I’ve not seen the league look as strong in my 20 years of watching

Most clubs use to sign fast bowlers who could bat a bit, now it seems to be batting pro's who bowl a bit of off spin

Anyone know the Burnley result? Not yet reported on the Lancs League website and the club’s twitter hasn’t posted a result.

There was little chance of a big score at the House today. Rammy were the visitors who were reluctant to play on the rather damp outfield.

A 40 over game started after 2:00pm and Rammy struggled on an expected green wicket finishing 83-9.

House played an innings which kept wickets in hand and the sub pro blasted a couple of sixes late on
to pick up the 10 points.

Generally it was bloody freezing.

Nothing on the LL site or anywhere until not long before 10 p.m. Must have been a late finish. :D

It was a superb opening performance by Burnley, Ocki again, the star performer. 38 with the bat then followed up with a superb 7 for 18. Burnley look a good bet for honours this season. Two good signings in Dec Bailey, to add to add to the batting, and Harry Snowden a genuine quickie from Settle.

Got the winter woolly hat back out of storage for the trip up to Bacup yesterday!

Rawtenstall just got over the line in a low scoring match.

Would imagine conditions will continue to favour bowlers for a while although Church managed to score over 200 yesterday.

Weather forecast for next weekend not looking too good at the moment.
