Our “tough run”

Post by agreenwood » Sat Feb 18, 2023 5:40 pm

Going into the WBA game the six fixtures ahead of us were earmarked as one of the toughest periods of the season.

Not sure what people would have accepted as a solid points return from those games, but with only Millwall left to come, we’ve picked up 13 points from 15 so far.

Fantastic run of results.

I definitely didn’t expect 4 wins and 1 draw. Another tricky one at Millwall midweek, they played well against Sheff today.

There isn’t any doubt about it - it was absolutely a tough run of games.

We’ve handled the 5 different tests remarkably well and with Millwall to come on Tuesday night it’s another difficult test. Would I take 14 points from 18? Yes, but you wouldn’t want to bet against this team finding a way to win it.

The only negative is we’ve picked up a few more key injuries.

Millwall worked very hard today and I feel we will have too much for them to cope with.

I said before this run of games that 12 points would've been a very respectable return.

Hopefully, we've underpinned another League Title winning season with it.
Showing a great mix of character and resolve with our football just now.

Get through the Millwall game and we've then got the bottom 3 to come.

Got to take full advantage of those.

Definitely the potential for us to spill plenty of points in those fixtures.

And with Boro's form it's vital we've same through these tough tests with our large advantage still intact.

Not over the line yet, but it's surely only a question of when we seal promotion now.

There's no way Millwall are going to beat both of the top two within however many days Saturday to Tuesday is, even if they are at home.

3-0 to us.

Quite upset we've dropped points to be fair, as Watford deserved less than Luton in my opinion

I think the current bottom five are in the run in too
At this stage of the season they are potential banana skins, starting with Warnock on Saturday

Being 15 points clear of Boro, theoretically and taking into account the Rovers game having to be rearranged, we could secure promotion, in our home game against Sheffield.

Given the unusual nature of the championship this season, that may well be right.

The bottom side is only 3 points behind the number that Barnsley got last season.

The three bottom sides are only 7 points from a total that would have been safe last year. More like 6 when you factor in Peterborough's - 44 goal difference.

Luton in 4th are three points closer to 24th than they are to 1st. That one is really wierd.
