Watford v West Brom
Hope this is better than last Friday's offering, Cardiff/Reading , which was weary.
Slaven Bilic against his old club.
Going 2-1 Watford.

Re: Watford v West Brom
At the start of the season I really thought the these two would be be big sides for the title.
Re: Watford v West Brom
Commentator just mentioned Watford had to juggle their matchday squad to ensure they complied with Champ rules on homegrown players (7 of the 18 have to be homegrown).
33.9 ‘Home Grown Player’ shall mean a Player who irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with:-
33.9.1 his current Club; and/or
33.9.2 a Club and/or any other football club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales, for a period, continuous or not of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)
On that basis, the following would be our non-homegrown players:
Zaroury
Benson
Beyer
Foster
Churlinov
Ekdal
Al-Dakhil
Muric and Maatsen both qualify as homegrown. Looks fairly comfortable for us but interesting that Watford have had to rotate/manage their options to comply.

These were 2 of my promotion favourites, however it seems certain one or possibly both will miss out.
West Brom were on a great run of form before their defeat at TM, since then their form has fallen off a cliff.

Rovers form wasn't that good prior to the derby, they tended to win one lose one.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 8:41 pmThe residents of Ewood Park are saying the same at that last sentence

Re: Watford v West Brom
I have a sneaking suspicion that Watford will somehow go up via the playoffs, especially if Boro take second spot. Match next weekend between Sheff U and Watford an interesting precursor to an end of season showdown...?
(that said, they wouldn't be my preference to go up - would quite like Millwall to cause a bit of chaos in the prem )

They've beaten us, Sheff Utd, and Boro at home. And battered Luton 4-0. Very strange.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:01 pmTwo shite teams. How we dropped points to dross like Watford is a mystery

Re: Watford v West Brom
Watford, on paper, look one of the strongest teams in the division, but it always seems like a bunch of talented players rather than an actual ‘team’. The revolving door of managers probably doesn’t help. Does explain why they can sometimes burst into life and put teams to the sword I guess.

When we went down there it was early season, they targeted Benson and we looked disjointed in the first half. We should have got something in the end.dougcollins wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:19 pmThey've beaten us, Sheff Utd, and Boro at home. And battered Luton 4-0. Very strange.

Watford won't score two scrappier goals in a game this decade. About 20 deflections between the two goals.

Watford have some very good individuals… like the one who’s just scored

They beat us just 3 games into the season, most of our team were strangers!and we were still the arguably the better team!dougcollins wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:19 pmThey've beaten us, Sheff Utd, and Boro at home. And battered Luton 4-0. Very strange.

Squeaky bum time if Watford win this, they'll only be 22 points behind us.

That’s offside and the linesman was nowhere near where he should have been.

Re: Watford v West Brom
It’s one of those marginal decisions, some go for you, some go against. Think it’s fair play to err on the side of the attacker. Rather a bit of human fallibility than the nonsense of VAR.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:31 pmThat’s offside and the linesman was nowhere near where he should have been.
