Muric 7 - decent save second half, another clean sheet…
Roberts 9 - his ball for our 4th which set Tella off was exquisite, properly mastered his role now
Ekdal 8 - some lovely forward passing
Beyer 8 - his running through the centre opens teams up
Maatsen 9 - brilliant first half, energy, skill, pressing, positional awareness, gutted for his injured
Cullen 9* - ran the game from start to finish
Brownhill 9 - excellent movement
JBG 9 - close to MOM, creative and classy
Tella 8 - excellent movement but let down with his final action today (unlike him)
Zaroury 9 - looked a threat every time he got on the ball
Barnes 9 - focal point, linked play really well

Obafemi 8 - looked really sharp
Foster 7 - promising signs
Taylor 7 - fine

That first half was absolutely outstanding stuff. Controlled second half while still creating. That performance deserved a 6/7-0 scoreline.

Some lucky Huddersfield fans today got to watch Premier League football for 25 quid.

Muric 7 one smart save, distribution fine, nowt else to do

Roberts 9 superb again, lovely goal

Ekdal 9 couple of near misses but otherwise superb

Beyer 9 lol, ridiculous player

Maatsen 9 so unlucky with the one off the post. Looked like a dislocated shoulder, hopefully not a bad one.

Cullen 9 metronome

Brownhill 9 too good for weak opposition like this

Zaroury 8

Gudmundsson 9

Tella 8 sound, unselfish play for Obafemi

Barnes 8 another cracking performance

Taylor 7 nice to see him playing left back at inside left a la Maatsen

Obafemi 7 good finish, decent movement

Foster 7 works hard, not much chance in front of goal as we'd stopped playing at 4.

We're far better than Huddersfield, who were beaten as soon as the first went in, so this was largely a training session. Shame we didn't go for a cricket score but the 5 subs tends to mean games finish a bit like friendlies, with the flow of the game disruptive. No worries though, gets minutes into legs and rest into others.

Can't see us losing another game this season as we're only getting stronger.

Muric 8
Roberts 9. Getting better by the week
Ekdal 9 as Roberts
Beckenbeyer 10 what a player
Maatsen 9 shame about the injury. Hope it’s not too bad
JBG 9 Rare 90 mins for him
Brownhill 9 found so much space
Cullen 9 the heart of the team
Tella 8
Zaroury 9
Barnes 9. Love his new role. The new Barnes

The first half was probably the best I have ever seen from a Burnley team. Opposition not the best but we were simply magnificent

That game today could've genuinely been 8-0. Some of our play was mesmeric. It was as if the two teams on that pitch were playing different sports.

Muric - 8

Roberts - 9
Ekdal - 9
Beyer - 9
Maatsen - 9

Cullen - 9
Brownhill - 9
Gudmundsson - 9
Tella - 8
Zaroury - 8

Barnes - 9

Muric 7 nothing to do apart from 1 good save
Roberts 9
Ekdal 9 growing in confidence every game
Beyer 9 really hoping it’s true that we’ve signed him on promotion
Maatsan 9 has improved so much defensively, but still like a third central midfielder. Shades of Zinchenko.
Cullen 9 metronomic
Brownhill 8 best game for a while
JGB 9 so good to see him play a full 90
Tella 8
Barnes 8
Zaroury 8 (9 first half 7 second)

Obafemi 8
Taylor 7 a bow down to Kompany, great defender but not a left back suitable for the way this team plays
Foster 7 think he may become a very astute signing

Muric 7- did the 1 thing he had to do well
Roberts 9- Prior to his goal I thought he was defensively a bit sloppy, then suddenly he was everywhere doing everything.
Ekdal- 9. Absolutely spectacular performance. What a find he is.
Beyer- 9. Made it look easy. Those runs from defence are amazing to watch.
Maatsen- 8. Should have scored, was everywhere, devastated at his injury.
Cullen- 9. Ran the show.
Brownhill- 9. Involved constantly.
Gudmundsson- 10. Lost track of how many places he popped up in. Even without his two assists this was a stunningly complete performance. He looks like he could adapt to just about any position in this system and lasted the full 90 easily.
Zaroury- 8. End product returned after a few flashy but insubstantial games. Terrified them and the 1 time it was needed showed improved defensive duties.
Tella -8. Hard working, stayed on his feet, was so hard to deal with and popped up all over. Very good performance.
Barnes- 9. Really, really good today.

Taylor- 7. Did what he needed to do well but we did miss Maatsen.
Obafemi- 8. Looked very lively.
Foster- 7. Still looking like he's bedding in but I'm remembering how many games it took the team to click at the start.

Twine looked decent in flashes too. Would much rather have had the free kick he should have won than the corner late on with his deadball threat.

I find it difficult to mark the players today for the best of reasons: so many of them were so good that I daren’t give them less than 10.

Some of them deserve 11/10

Just to be clear (and pedantic I'm afraid) - no one played a full 90 minutes today, but I completely agree with your point re: JBGs stamina and fitness.

First half was absolutely mesmerising

Our passing and movement was far too good for this level, and we should have gone in about 6-0 up

2nd half was a bit disrupted, but we still could have scored more than the one we did

Muric 7 - good save but has very little to do, so hard to give him more than that
Roberts 9 - outstanding
Ekdal 8 - very solid
Beyer 9 - ridiculous if we get him for £5 million
Maatsen 8 - hope the injury isn't serious
Zaroury 9 - genuinely felt sorry for the man who got nowhere near him all game
Cullen 10* - key to everything
Brownhill 9 - good goal
JBG 9 - huge bonus having a fit and brilliant JBG back
Barniesta 9 - outstanding
Tella 7 - should have had a hatrick, and one would have won team goal of the season if it had gone in

Subs
Obefemi 8 - good finish
Foster 7 - worked hard
Taylor 7

Play the first team on Weds, we are up

You won't see Burnley dominate a half of football more than that first half if you watch us for a lifetime.

Muric - 7 - very steady whenever called upon and picked some nice passes.

Roberts - 10 - as good a performance as I've ever seen from a Burnley full back, not that his heat match will suggest that's where he was playing. Pulled Huddersfield all over the place and his distribution was spot on, most obviously for the 4th goal.

Maatsen - 9 - absolutely superb first half, desperately unlucky not to make it 4, and hopefully the injury is not a serious one.

Ekdal - 8 - some lovely passing and prompting in the first half.

Beyer - 9 - some mesmerising runs although he was rightly disappointed with his distribution a couple of times- small margins but our standards are high, although his contribution to our 3rd goal shouldn't be under-estimated.

Cullen- 10 - absolutely magnificent. An exhibition of pass and move midfield play and did the ugly stuff when it was needed.

Brownhill- 9 - roved around the park to real effect. Understandably given a breather.

Gudmundsson- 9 - some lovely, David Silva-esque movement and link play crowned with 2 assists.

Tella - 8 - not at his absolute sharpest but did really well for Obafemi's goal and the threat of his runs occupied loads of defenders.

Zaroury- 9 - made a couple of over ambitious choices in the second half when the game was won, and still learning some of the game management stuff, but for all the same he was absolutely mercurial and Huddersfield could not live with him.

Barnes - 9 - for 60 minutes, as good a focal point as we could have wished for. Might be playing his best football for Burnley right now.

Taylor- 7 - we missed Mastsen's range of passing when he came on, but did fine on his own terms.

Obafemi - 8 - wasn't entirely clear where he was playing but took his goal well and showed he's got plenty to offer.

Foster - 7 - promising signs that his link up play has come on immensely since he joined, even if he's yet to show he's got a poachers instinct.

In the end this was an odd game to assess, because after 55 minutes it ended abruptly with Maatsen's injury and never really reignited again, not least because we made a load of changes and our tempo dropped perhaps unsurprisingly given the week we've had. The game became a bit scrappy and a bit shapeless.

But- for 55 minutes this was breathtaking. Huddersfield were annihilated, completely unable to cope with something approaching total football. The goals all came from terrific team play and outstanding individual execution, and there were too many similar moves to count,, but the personal highlight was one move just before half time when we played our way out of a really tight spot down the right with a succession of rat-a-tat-tat short passes before Huddersfield frantically blocked the shot. Yes, Huddersfield weren't great, but we were fabulous.

100 points is very much on from here, and the 106 point record is certainly equal-able. The other target, which will be stretch but should be in the players' minds, is 100 goals. Playing like they did today, its possible.

What a great team performance, one of those you'd hope to see once in a season. B@^%£$@&s, Swansea, Preston, Norwich, QPR........ It's almost every week.

Understandably, this game was finished as a spectacle after about an hour, but it’s a shame because that first half was nothing short of breathtaking. We were playing a different sport. We are a Premier League team and we’re going to win this league at a canter. That isn’t arrogance, just the reality of the situation, and it’s no more than this wonderful team deserve.

Muric 8 - they simply gave up pressing him
Roberts 9 - fabulous but helped by no threat down that side
Maatsen 9 - they couldn’t handle him. So unlucky with his injury after a great recovery tackle.
Ekdal 7 - gave the ball away badly early on but grew into it, a very good back up, unsure yet is a starter in PL material
Beckenbeyer 9 - superb, barnstorming runs and solid defending
Cullen 10 - masterful, ran the game, really really hope his pace and build don’t hamper him in the PL as he is class
Brownhill 9 - great at nicking the ball and setting up a chance
Zaroury 8 - unmarkable, only his final ball meant it wasn’t a total rout
Tella 7 - not our best player today but solid enough and made them worry
Gudmundsson 9 - has never played for Burnley at this level so we haven’t seen him dominate like this
Barnes 9 - nous, physique and skill to knit together the forward line. Has to be extended. We don’t know how the others will cope. He is at least the equal of Weghorst when he plays like this (who I still think will try and fail to come crawling back next season)

Taylor 7 - a bit iffy in the tackle, maybe a bit out of practice
Foster 7 - some good moments, it isn’t the league, its his teammates who are too rapid in the mind and pass for him, but he will adapt
Obafemi 8 - gets into some good instinctive positions

In many decades watching Burnley that is the most complete performance I have seen. Against a poor side but the movement, passing, bravery, skill and finishing were better than I have seen us do before. It was mesmerising at times and they simply gave up trying to win, they stuck at it to a degree and credit to them for that, it could have been 6 or 7 but we chose not to push on, probably sensibly.

We aren’t showing any signs of easing off. Kompany mentioning “21st best” like a parrot shows he is going all in for the title then the record.

I want him to add one more serious target for the first choice eleven - the FA Cup. The way we are playing, we can win it.

Muric 8 - Comfortable afternoon but made good save to keep a clean sheet
Roberts 9 - Excellent game
Ekdal 9 * - Fitted in seamlessly and so impressive
Beyer 9 - Great to see him back
Maatsen 9 - Having a very good game hope the injury isn’t as bad as it looked
Cullen 9 - Covers so much ground and is always available
Brownhill 8 - Good performance and goal
Zaroury 8 - Good performance
Gudmundsson 9 - So good to see him being so influential in games and playing 90 minutes
Tella 8 - Presses so well
Barnes 9 - Leading the line so well at the moment great to see

Taylor 8 - Steady
Obafemi 8 - Seems to be in the right place at the right time
Foster 7 - Still lots to learn about how we play and probably needs a goal to settle him in

Thought this could have been a difficult match with the new manager bounce but it didn’t play out that way because we were so dominant and played some fantastic football especially in the first half

And there was me predicting a draw ahead of the game - new manager bounce and all of that. How wrong was I.
Men vs. boys in the first half. Yes, Huddersfield were disappointing and offered little but our overall performance was outstanding. Crisp passing, a willingness to track back and do the ugly stuff combined with the a style of play going forward that was controlled, calculated and incisive. 82% possession in the first half and 3-0 up told its own story. UTC.

Difficult to evaluate how good that was against such a gutless team. On it’s own they were amazing. Slow ball retention and then hitting them at pace. The two killer passes for the second and fourth goals, Ekdal & Roberts, were world class.

Muric 7 - Still keeps us on edge but his overall play and distribution is excellent.
Roberts 8 - Up and down the flank, cutting into the middle and always wants the ball. Seems to get stronger as the game progresses.
Ekdal 8 - As cool as Bjorn Borg this fella.
Beyer 8 - He is up there with the best Centre Backs we have had at this level.
Maatsen 7 - He occasionally plays a bad pass rather than a good interception but more than makes up with his recovery.
Cullen 9 ** - Possibly the very best midfielder in this Division, what an astute signing by VK
Brownhill 8 - One of his best games this season.
Zaroury 8 - Lovely to watch him go outside, inside and cut back.
Gudmundsson 9 - Two lovely assists and is playing at a level we knew he could achieve when injury free.
Tella 8 - Linked very well with Barnes.
Barnes 8 - This resurgence can only be down to great coaching and his own brilliant attitude.

Taylor 7
Obafemi 7
Foster 7

The best first half I can remember and eclipsed the demolition of Forest several season ago under SD.
