Re: Foster
If he continues his form this season we will see bids for him in January. The way he is developing he could become an Ivan Toney Mk2, and there aren't too many of these in the Prem. Have to say I was one that had doubts in him, but this has been a major transformation. Remember seeing Charlie Austin in his early games and he looked poor, but WOW did he get better and stronger with us

Re: Foster
I think the 2 he defo misses are City away and Luton at homeNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 8:23 amNo it doesn’t coincide with it (actually starts 2 days after winter break finishes.
If South Africa go all the way he will miss 4 games. But in all likeliness he will only miss two games
Re: Foster
There's no reason, injury & suspensions aside, that he shouldn't get 15 goals this season.

Re: Foster
He’s got it all. Weird he looked so average last season.
Now he looks absolutely rapid, strong, constantly holds of defenders, and has good feet as well to go with it. He’s tall enough as well to be a good aerial threat, and recently his finishing has been excellent.
Seems to have all the attributes and at age 23 to go right to the very top.

Good point. This why we need to try and undersatand what VK and BFC are trying to do with regards to signing and developing young players so that they can achieve great things in the game. Too many people were writing off Foster within weeks of his arrival in this country before the coaching team had chance to work with him. Hopefully he is now more settled and can maintain his early season form.
Same goes for many of the other young lads we have in our squad. We must support them and be patient despite the pressure we all feel during games.

Re: Foster
Benson had no pre-season and is injured
Zaroury was suspended and was apparently ill
No clue how you can class that as out of favour

Since we signed Foster I've watched a coupe of the South Africa games, unless they are lulling everyone into a false sense of security he won't be away long, they have been dreadful

Re: Foster
Did Lyle Foster come off at Luton due to lack of match fitness as missed last three games?
Re: Foster
It has to be said that even though the majority agreed Foster needed time last season I don't think anyone could have predicted how good he would be looking now (Kompany aside).
He looks like he's finding it pretty easy to score at this level which is the most exciting thing for me.
Would have another if the Forest goal had stood. I can't believe that guy who called him Pony for 3 months even shows up on here anymore

Re: Foster
There had to be concerns ahead of the season given his general play last season but he’s looked a different player. I’ve been hugely impressed with him so far and the goals he scored against Spurs & Forest (disallowed) showed a real goalscorer’s ability to find space for himself in the box.boyyanno wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:00 pmIt has to be said that even though the majority agreed Foster needed time last season I don't think anyone could have predicted how good he would be looking now (Kompany aside).

Re: Foster
A consistent gright light, this season and puts himself about.
Ashley Barnes taught him well!

Agreed. Think we've got a good one on our hands!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:07 pmThere had to be concerns ahead of the season given his general play last season but he’s looked a different player. Re: Foster
We need another like him, particularly as he's off to AFCON. Will Obafemi be fit then?
Re: Foster
Agreed Tony ... although last season he was showing signs of what he could deliver (albeit without the actual delivery) he is definitely a different gravy this season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:07 pmThere had to be concerns ahead of the season given his general play last season but he’s looked a different player. Re: Foster
Definitely the quickest striker we have had in any of our premier league campaigns. Knows where the net is too. Looks good.
Re: Foster
He's the one player we have that looks the part in The Premier League from our first match. He seems to take control of the ball and effortlessly shield it from his marker usually making good lay-offs. And of course he finishes well (three goals and one assist in six games in a relatively poor side is good going). I can't comment on his aerial ability as I don't recall seeing it.
Can he keep this level up will be interesting to see as opponents become more aware of him.

Re: Foster
He reminds me of Vokes, but with pace.
Pretty much wins every header that is played forward.
I've got to say, I didn't see it coming last season.

Re: Foster
I judge Foster by the ease in which he goes past defenders, and as we keep saying he has played six of the top PL teams, which you must assume has some of the PL's top defenders

Re: Foster
Rhetorical statement, like a rhetorical question. Shame though.
Still questions would have to be asked of those people turning up to watch.
