Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
As it says, Dan is stepping away from his role as the Bur key reporter.
A chance for those that say what questions should be asked to step forward!
On a serious note, a good role for somebody.

Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
Thankless bleeding task. Local newspapers nowadays run on meagre budgets and largely cover stuff by mainly by remote control. Sports reporting is slightly different because at least you need to "be there", then write a report for the delectation of thousands of readers, half of whom know better and scoff at your efforts. "A good job!" Yer, riught. . .arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 4:36 pmThanks, looks like you have the requisite skills. Get your name down.

Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
Dan left the Burnley Express some time ago although continued to work for the same company (National World). He sort of got drafted back in when Chris Boden left. I'm sure both Dan & Chris would say it once was a good role but not so much now.

Good lad is Dan. Likely to be my last contact with the Express too. From Keith McNee to Peter Higgs, Granville Shackleton, Edward Lee, Chris Boden & Dan, they’ve all been a great help. I wish Dan all the very best.

Don’t think the grossly underpaid journalists employed in a business that is likely to make them redundant at the drop of a hat are responsible for thatTheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 12:30 pm"Essential skills: Must be able to write a paragraph then insert numerous adverts and click bait"
Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
Lot if criticism of here about Burnley express reporting, some of which is reasonable,as an oldie on here I am grateful that we still have a newspaper that we can call local. Over the years before today's on line reporting us oldies relied on the Express for our TWICE weekly update on all clarets news. You never miss something until its gone. I still love my Friday FIX.

The Burnley Express WAS an excellent publication but that’s long gone now I’m afraid which is no criticism of Dan & Chris.Sozturf7 wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 5:59 pmLot if criticism of here about Burnley express reporting, some of which is reasonable,as an oldie on here I am grateful that we still have a newspaper that we can call local. Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
What happened to the Lancashire (Evening) Telegraph?
My dad still gets it to do the crossword over a gallon of tetleys or A.N.Other pint of normal working mans, but when did it change to just being Blackburn based? I think the front (and back) three sheets used to be Burnley for us and Blackburn for them, but now it's all Blackburn based.

Evening Telegraph is just Blackburn, Blackburn, Blackburn. So they can keep it. Never bought it since they decided not to do a Burnley edition.
Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
Fair comment Tony. Still like the fact its the Burnley Express. Comes with age I'm afraid.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 6:26 pmThe Burnley Express WAS an excellent publication but that’s long gone now I’m afraid which is no criticism of Dan & Chris.

Re: Dan Black Leaving Burnley Express
A decision possibly three years ago to scrap the Burnley edition. If you look now though there are still Burnley stories in there, and Pendle stories and Rossendale too. The decision to stop covering the only team in the Premier League in what is still their circulation area defies belief. I only ever used to look at the Telegraph for Clarets stories, and I’m sure that goes for many other supporters too. So they chopped a chunk off their sales in one fell swoop. Nothing surprises me about the people who now run the local mediadistortiondave wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 6:49 pmWhat happened to the Lancashire (Evening) Telegraph?
