A quick note about his use of the advantage. Looked to let play go at least three or four times in the game and after a foul on JBG, he allowed the ball to move out wide to Zaroury, who crossed for Tella to give us the lead. Brilliant play from the referee. Yet another excellent game.

Thought the two yellows were both harsh, the subsequent red more so.
It killed the game as a spectacle but I thought it played on the ref’s mind and many decisions were then made with a half BBC a mind towards keeping the scoreline low and evening things up.

Re: RATE THE REF - John Busby v Wigan Athletic
Absolutely no complaints as he did very well. I was just slightly bemused when we had the ball attacking their box, Roberts and McLean started WWF wrestling off the ball, the game stopped, they both got booked and it was apparently a Wigan free kick. Surely a drop ball (imo!)

He was fine but boy was that an easy game to referee in the end.

Got the main decision spot on with the sending off an absolute certainty. Particularly impressed by his yellow carding Darikwa about 3 minutes after he commited the foul.

Roberts ran into McLean and as they fell to the ground initiated the wrestling. Ref called it all correctly.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 6:12 pmAbsolutely no complaints as he did very well. Not a difficult game to ref but in fairness he made sure it wasn’t by correctly getting the yellow cards out early where necessary. Thought he was great.

Might reassess, but will wait and see.

Re: RATE THE REF - John Busby v Wigan Athletic
Better than most but the scything down of Nathan Tella was a stonewall penalty
