Getting in the ground?
Do any other club find it as hard to get fans in the ground as we do?!
The most ridiculous queues I’ve ever seen today, contributing to the crap atmosphere when the ground is only 80% full at kick off.
What is it with our inability to get fans through turnstiles?!

Sit in the JML and despite queues never had a problem getting in.
Re: Getting in the ground?
Get there earlier. I walked in without any queue at 2.20pm.

Got there at 14:45 today due to some unexpected delays on my journey. Missed kick off.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:10 pmJust logged in after getting back from TheUnderground watching another great display by our team and what do I see.....another poster moaning about the club. Do you think 15 minutes is reasonable to get in a ground?
Re: Getting in the ground?
If everyone leaves the pub at 2.45 it's not really the clubs fault.

I’ve got a vision of martin-p reading War and Peace to kill the time before kickoff.

no, when there are nearly 20 thousand people in attendance it's probably advisable to get there earlier ESPECIALLY as it's a known issue

Not had any problems all season. Walked straight in JMU at 2.35 today, no queues at all. Actually felt unusually quiet today entering the ground. Great win though.

Nearly twenty minutes is excessive today, the same queues see people getting in, in half the time on a normal match day.

Generally have a chat with people. My copy of War and Peace only comes out when someone really tall stands up in front of me.

Re: Getting in the ground?
Longest I've waited this season, even with long lines stretching across the car park
would be 5 or 6 minutes.
Seem to go down quite quickly, maybe I just pick the fastest queues

Thanks CaptainKirk, have clarified now, got there 14:45 due to some unexpected roadworks on the way, I’m normally there around 14:30. But never seen anything like today…CaptainKirk wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:17 pmYou are all saying "get there earlier".

It was hard to even get around the ground the queues were so far back from the Jimmy Mac, right back against the far fence, then the queues to get in the longside were spilling in to the car park, then against the Elite Centre. Most likely arrived at 14:40 but quite literally had to fight crowds to get to our queue at 14:45.
When I got there, queuing alongside the elite centre, one guy said to me “is this seriously the queue for the turnstile?” I said “looks like it” and sent him about 10 further back.
Get in and get sat down about 3 minutes in, continuous streams of people just walking in and making everyone stand up to get to their seat.
Never seen anything like it at any other ground.

Re: Getting in the ground?
I used to wander down around 2-2:20 when we were in the 4th division with low crowds just to savour the place. I obviously can't say what's going on now, I just don't understand people complaining about it IF it's a known issue (it's been mentioned on here a good few times so I assume it is ?)

The issue was far worse today and as I said above there were I.T. issues in the ground. Arrive at the turnstiles by 2.50pm and you get in on a normal matchday.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:29 pmI used to wander down around 2-2:20 when we were in the 4th division with low crowds just to savour the place. Prior to the implementation of the new turnstile system we never had this issue, unless turnstiles were shut.

Well in some respects, I hope so. Although I’d also hope that the club would find a way to speed up access to the ground.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:30 pmIt’s called success. We all might have to get used to it.
Re: Getting in the ground?
Not sure about other stands but all the bars/catering couldn't take any card payments at half time in the Bob Lord.
Re: Getting in the ground?
Doesn't help when everyone goes to the same turnstile and fail to see the empty ones. There was a queue of about 100 people today with 2 turnstiles further down with 3 or 4 people. Open your eyes
Re: Getting in the ground?
Do what we do ... get there about 2.15 ... have a drink in the ground chatting with other Clarets and enjoy the matchNewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:05 pmDo any other club find it as hard to get fans in the ground as we do?!

Re: Getting in the ground?
Would usually agree. On the longside I know all the turnstiles I can use (there’s always queues - even when I arrive 30 minutes before, so I go the shortest)… but today the queues were all so long there were no short ones. At least when I arrived.

Re: Getting in the ground?
Obviously higher gates will cause longer queues but there are other factors. The card system change didn't help and extra security - can't complain too much about that.
Other clubs have bugger gates, digital card or barcode readers and don't seem to have the same problems.

I’ve heard of issues getting in before as I’m normally much earlier arriving, but today was crazy. I’ve never seen such large queues at much, much larger grounds.
It was carnage. Thought I’d taken a picture, but hadn’t. Will take one next time. Surprised others didn’t notice how many were streaming in after KO. Don’t normally see that.

Re: Getting in the ground?
In all the grounds you’ve visited Leisure, have you ever seen queues so far back they’re from the turnstiles and along the Eilte Centre wall? Or waited 15 minutes to get in?
I can honestly say I never have.
I take your point that it might not be enough at Turf Moor but I think arriving 15 minutes before the game should be enough to see the start of it!
Re: Getting in the ground?
But from experience, unfortunately, 15 minutes isn't enough time to guarantee getting in for the ko. Simple solution, get there 30 mins before ko.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:05 pmIn all the grounds you’ve visited Leisure, have you ever seen queues so far back they’re from the turnstiles and along the Eilte Centre wall? Re: Getting in the ground?
Didn’t have a problem getting in myself, but the OP should be able to get to their seat before kick off if they arrive at the turnstile 15 minutes before kick off. And the fact that we’ve just won and are top of the league is irrelevant and shouldn’t prevent them from being able to make this point.

Re: Getting in the ground?
Think we’re at cross purposes, Leisure. I normally am (as stated) and never normally see what I did today, which was complete bedlam.
My question is: should it be enough? And should we be accepting this carnage?
Of all the grounds I’ve ever visited, I’ve never seen anything like today. Not at all sure why such a small ground (comparatively) can’t get 20k fans on in good time.

Re: Getting in the ground?
That could excuse the longer queues today but the extra time to get in started after the new 'improved' turnstile system came into play two or three years ago. The initial teething problems were improved but it's still inadequate in dealing with the busy periods prior to kick off.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:23 pmfair enough, if it's a known IT issue why are people complaining ? Surely that's why people get paid big money to resolve these issues in top class sport.

I always see issues with those entering the CFS as I entered the JML at about 2-40. It looks like everyone in there is being searched prior to entry.
Re: Getting in the ground?
Left the pub at 2:30, got to the ground at 2:40: queued at the cfs and got in at 2:55, in my seat just as the players came out. It takes longer than it used to. Plan for it

Maybe half an hour is better….
