Royal Dyche?
Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
Great news. I does make you wonder if the Chairman has no interest in our history and simply wanted to dispose of those boards.

Firstly, we'd like to thank Tony for publishing our press release this morning and also thank him for all the work he's done on our behalf in finding somewhere for our player boards to go.
We are not in a position as yet to confirm where they are going but will as soon as that's possible.

Strange from an American, where they have a history of recognising past heroes.
Even going as far as retiring the players number and stadiums with rings of glory around them.

Really happy to help. Having spent so much time getting them in the first place (and this site being fortunate enough to sponsor Brian Miller), I think it's important that they are retained and on display for supporters.BFC Supps Groups wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 10:36 amFirstly, we'd like to thank Tony for publishing our press release this morning and also thank him for all the work he's done on our behalf in finding somewhere for our player boards to go.

We were told "Alan doesn't like them " . That is an unbelievably poor response from our owner. Someone really needs to have a word with him about our history. I'm sure you guys have found a great location for these heroes as it's definately nothing less than they deserve.

I was shocked to find out those pictures were taken down as I remember walking up to the Turf remembering most of them when I lived in the UK, I just hope that a proper place was found for them , plus I'm surprised Mr Pace wouldn't want them outside the Turf..

Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
I wonder if our chairman “doesn’t like them” because they aren’t flashy LED based?
I have noticed they do show our past players photo & stats on the LED boards on the longside, so it doesn’t appear like he has an issue with the history of the club.
As for the boards themselves, it is good that they will be featured elsewhere, I just hope it is somewhere that will be seen by supporters, and I include away fans there

Personally I loved them, classy display of our proud history. I'm really glad it sounds like they have got a home even if it will possibly be second best to the walls of Turf Moor.
You can see from a branding and advertising perspective why Pace may not like them though.

To suggest Pace doesn’t care about the history of the club is frankly pathetic.
As is all these ‘LED’ jibes. The club is moving forward.

There haven’t been any LED jibes. Someone suggested it was the reason he didn’t like them which I believe to be the case.helmclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 12:22 pmTo suggest Pace doesn’t care about the history of the club is frankly pathetic.

Best news of the day, loved these boards and they were very beautifully done not tacky at all.
Seeing legends pre my birth and through my formative years as a Claret gave me an enormous sense of pride. Perfect before entrance to the ground and the fabulous Times Like These videos.
Immensely proud of what is happening now and our history beforehand.

I wasn’t jibing Pace about the LED boards. I actually don’t mind them and can see what potential they have for the club.helmclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 12:22 pmTo suggest Pace doesn’t care about the history of the club is frankly pathetic.

I just think it’s a shame that they have snubbed the supporter groups that put a lot of time effort and money into the boards
Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
Good news.
I think the traditional looking boards look far better than the LED digital displays, but I can understand why the club wanted to go down the LED route as well.

Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
Good to see they will be returned somewhere and put to use. They were very well done and it would have been a great shame to have not seen them displayed. It will be interesting to see where they go. I had hoped they would be picked up by the Council and used in various prominent positions around the town, I think that might have looked good and really brought the pride of the club to central locations etc. Also interested to see what ALK have planned for Ormerod Yard if that was mentioned. I’m not sure what options there really are there.
Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
I find it hard to believe that those picture boards do not have a clear display, for all, when attending our cathedral.

Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
Great shout actually. They could probably have just the right amount of space on the walls around the indoor one if spaced well.
Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
I’m all for some updating and digitalisation but this is ridiculous. Every single thing in or on the ground doesn’t have to be LED. Soon people will be leaving Blackpool illuminations in droves to come and watch the pre match light displays at Turf Moor.

I know it’s what is intended but I’ve noticed the LES stuff outside the ground more than I noticed the previous boards. They grab your attention better and are more prominent over a wider viewing area.
Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
it was unlikely that they would find a home for them when they cant even find a home for the Clubs Accounts!

'Disappointingly, in May 2021, all the images were removed by Burnley Football Club without any consultation or even communication with us but we were reassured by chairman Alan Pace who, in reply to an email, told us: “The boards will be taken down while the painting and upgrading works occur. The plan is to then replace them in their original positions. However, this ongoing work may be over the course of several months.”'
He hs just changed his mind, or was he lying back then I wonder?

Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
It doesn't make me wonder that. He just doesn't like them.
I think i'm disappointed with the way he's gone about firstly stating that they'd be going back up when clearly there was no intention of doing so, and then failing to communicate whatsoever with those who put so much time and effort into having them made and installed.
I've been quite open minded about Mr Pace and what he's been trying to do here, but this looks like a balls-up to me. Thank God it's only a small balls-up though.
Delighted we will see them again, and very excited to learn where they will be.

Fanzone would make them only accessible on matchdays and that would go against BFCSG’s firm belief of having them on display 365 days a year for everyone to enjoy. Can’t see it myself.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 9:20 pmAnother here that thinks the new location will be the fanzone.

I really like them - I realise that I am in a minority on here or at least it begin to feel like it but the club becomes something more than just football but a real bridge to the past to connect people in your life and not - with us and gone: parents, relatives, teenage away day friends and so on and so forth.
Whether it be those who were great like Taffy or 'kind of great' like Ray Deacon I felt it gave colour, a sense of history and belonging to Turf Moor.
It must be my age...

Re: ARTICLE: New Home for Our Turf Moor Heroes
I like progress and everything, and a lot of the traditionalist arguments around a whole bunch of things sometimes aren't strong enough for me, but on this one, imagine taking down all the religious iconography and sticking up McDonalds boards inside St Peter's Basilica or the Sistine chapel under the pretext of generating more revenue. Player boards have a similar sort of function, even if they aren't necessarily works of art as such.
