The X43
The X43
Does the X43 not depart from Nelson anymore on a Saturday? Just checked the timetable online but apart from some morning departures from Queensgate, all the other departures are from Burnley.

No, the Burnley - Skipton leg was changed to the Pendle Wizz. Different Transdev service. You need to change in Burnley.

Doesn't look like it. Checking the transdev app Journey planner says you have to change at Burnley from Nelson Colne or Skipton to get to Manchester.
Probably changed with the 2 pound bus fare rule.

Going there will be fine. Every 10 minutes and Clarets will stagger set off times.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 7:54 amGood luck to all those using this service on Saturday
Getting back might be a bit more fun.
Groups usually just book mini buses though.

Re: The X43
I’m not sure it will be fine getting there, I tried to Sue the X43 in November when the train strikes were on, getting on at the Rose & Crown and two full buses went past before I gave up. 7,000 folk heading to Manchester doesn’t bode well especially if there is any train disruption. Not going to risk it.

auto correct sometimes does change a word and make the sentence better, unless you did sue the bus

The good folk of Burnley will be taking advantage of the £2 capped bus fare and probably all turn up at the same time

Re: The X43
I doubt going there will be fine, it never has been in the past when we have played at City or United and this time we have sold almost 3 times the amount of tickets as we normally do in the league.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 8:03 amGoing there will be fine. The bus company never seem interested in putting on any extra buses, and if you live at the top of Manchester Road or even Loveclough or Crawshawbooth, no doubt the X43 will just pass the bus stops without even stopping because they will be packed.

Apparently there's one train leaving Burnley Manchester Rd train station around 12:30 but no trains going in the opposite direction all day

Ma''Lord,
The X43 stands before us today accused of having 4-wheels, no empty seats and failing to stop at a designated bus stop.
X43, how do you plead?
Beep, beep Ma' Lord.

Could the club not ask the X43 to put some extra busses on? Would pay for themselves quite obviously.

Re: The X43
No chance I'm afraid. We (Burnley FC Supporters Groups) contacted the bus company around 2018 asking them to consider putting on extra services after night games on the Turf (the last X43 leaves at 9:40) but they told us in no uncertain terms that they do not run their services based on events. They just weren't interested and yet I'm certain they would get a lot of passengers.
I used the X43 for City for the cup tie there in 2019, it was a nightmare getting one back after the game.

Thanks for the information. Was hoping to jump on at Nelson so that it could almost guarantee a seat but will need to brave Burnley Bus Station.

Re: The X43
But not in the CFS.
Re: The X43
I’d usually go on the train but due to the strike and I’m taking my father in law so it’s free travel for him on the bus. Think we’ll risk the 1.30pm bus as hopefully those who will be going for the day out on the beer will have long gone by then. Getting home does concern me more so will just head straight to Chorlton St and hope for the best.

I think you’ll be lucky. You’ll need to go from the bus station for sure especially with the news about the trains.burnmark wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 5:27 pmI’d usually go on the train but due to the strike and I’m taking my father in law so it’s free travel for him on the bus. Re: The X43
There’s a National Express at 10.20pm from Chorlton Street to Burnley. Prebook it and take the hassle out of the day and enjoy the game.

Re: The X43
Could you pin something so people could prebook and taxi share? Can’t imagine it would be too much more expensive in a cab together with the fare split than the bus.
Re: The X43
4 people in an uber be about 15 each back
Re: The X43
Wife has suggested the possibility of taking us to Bury and getting the tram in from there to avoid the bus lottery.

Re: The X43
Well in some ways that’s good to know - maybe the club have tried and got a similar response, although I wouldn’t bet on it. I do think they could do more to support us in these situations.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Mar 14, 2023 4:21 pmNo chance I'm afraid. Like you say, Transdev could make fortunes if they put more busses on.
I was going to try the X43 so I could have a drink, but given your experience I’m going to drive Tony

Re: The X43
Is there anything stopping a local coach company running a coach or a double decker bus after night games to at least as far as rawtenstall letting people off at bus stops en route?
Transdev couldn’t complain as it doesn’t take any business away from them since they don’t want to run buses after games.

Re: The X43
We were thinking of doing it from Ladywell, but the car park only has space for about 300 cars, and we reasoned that it would be rammed with a rail strike
So sacked it off and decided to do Middlesborough instead
The X43 is going to be absolutely horrible one would think

Re: The X43
Awful when no trains are running, will need to get the bus from Halifax to Rochdale then tram from Rochdale into Manchester and repeat on the way home.
At least coming from and going to Halifax will probably mean a quiet journey compared to travelling from and to Burnley.
Just to ask, even with the rail strikes, the tram services are not affected by this?

Just checked Trainline for Burnley MR to Manchester via Preston and though it gives return times up to 10pm
It also says there are rail replacement buses running.

A long journey though - we used it for OT until the new line opened with a tram stop 2-3 mins walk from the ground.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:58 amDirect metro link to the Etihad (well, assuming I'd read the timetable correctly!) was the plan
I reckon Ladywell to the Etihad would be a good 45 minutes or so.

You have - tram from Ladywell to Ashton will take you directly to Etihad Campus.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:58 amDirect metro link to the Etihad (well, assuming I'd read the timetable correctly!) was the plan

we are going to leave the car at the park & ride at Ashton moss and get the the tram to etihad, every 12 mins approx 15min journey
