Travelling to the Etihad
Apologies if there's already a thread on this and I've missed it
Looking at the available options and thinking of using the Metrolink park and ride at Ashton
Any thoughts from those with local knowledge
Thank you

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
I presume you mean the Ashton West tram stop? There is a place behind the cineworld for the people using the tram. I've done it before and it's great. You get kicked off the tram before the stadium. Queues afterwards are a pain to get back on and the tram shares the road with the cars on that route out of the city so it's not that quick. Or the next stop closer to Manchester has the Sheldon Arms pub by that park and ride for a few beers if required.

Do they still have those free busses taking you back into centre afterwards

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Yes, but they are £2 each, and you need to leave after 80 mins or you will be queing for an hour.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 1:18 pmDo they still have those free busses taking you back into centre afterwards

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
If you're fit enough and it's not chucking it down it's easier to walk back to the centre.

It’s usually never been a problem as we are dead and buried long before 80th minute anywayBarlickclaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 2:13 pmYes, but they are £2 each, and you need to leave after 80 mins or you will be queing for an hour.

I'm driving to the Ladywell park and ride, tram to Piccadilly, then walking to the Etihad from there. The walk is 20-25 minutes.

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Does anybody know if the Manchester Metro is running on Saturday without any strikes?
Re: Travelling to the Etihad
TFGM run the trams, they've not been part of any strikes so far. The only difference when the rail strikes have been on is a replacement bus from Timperley to Altrincham after 7pm as it shares part of the National Rail line.

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
It’s a mile from city centre and an easy straight walk . Best bet is park in centre walk up. Trams can be queue hell and take forever after match .

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
I’m at work tomorrow, only 20 walk to the Etihad, so I’ll be in Manchester all day tomorrow, but if anyone is struggling to get back to Rawtenstall / Crawshawbooth area I have 3 (or 4 at a push, but it’s cosy) seats in the car so can give any claret a lift back.

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Planning to be drinking in the Cutting Room Square in Ancoats lots of bars and food options before the 20 min walk to the ground. Noticed the fan bars at the ground are open 3 hours before KO but last time I tried to get in the security guys wanted to see your match ticket. Away end ticket and you ain’t getting in. UTC
Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Supporters guide says they do welcome away fans BUT note City's says no alcohol to away supporters. Burnley seem to forget to say this.Flixtonclaret1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:07 amPlanning to be drinking in the Cutting Room Square in Ancoats lots of bars and food options before the 20 min walk to the ground. Re: Travelling to the Etihad
If you’re in the city centre the £2 buses go up to the Etihad from outside the Travelodge in Piccadilly gardens regularly.

Seven Brothers is always a decent option on match days!Flixtonclaret1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:07 amPlanning to be drinking in the Cutting Room Square in Ancoats lots of bars and food options before the 20 min walk to the ground. Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Second city in Ancoats is a decent sports bar with plenty of screens and different games.

Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Loads of parking at the Piccadilly station long stay car park - 20 minutes from the ground. Just parked there and it’s nearly empty
Re: Travelling to the Etihad
I was a bit concerned about parking. I charged at Stockport then drove towards Etihad. Saw cars parking, so turned round and parked too. Chap behind says it is as good as it gets. Stainburn Road. There is a canal below me and it looks like it might cut off a fair bit!
All good. Come on you Clarets.

I used the road and a bit of tramway to walk along. Just a few mins! Very good indeed. Should be a good getaway too!.
Re: Travelling to the Etihad
Enjoyed a few cracking pints and some nice food in here before the walk to the ground.
