Not an easy read (or write) but a season would not be complete without the annual City thrashing!

Dust ourselves off………….we go again with this great season. A lesson for our young team that their development is nowhere near complete as VK went on to say post match.
I actually felt a bit more shocked by the Sheff Utd defeat, but then look what happened…..

No shock yesterday. You just hope they don’t turn it on. When they do, that can happen. We played a great team sprinkled with a couple of world class players.Jimmymaccer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 1:09 pmDust ourselves off………….we go again with this great season. No surprise we lost yesterday against that quality, and although it was disappointing to lose so heavily when City flow that can happen to the best sides.
At least we actually enjoyed a cup run for once, and the carrot of lifting the Championship title will mean we'll soon put this defeat behind us.

Re: REPORT: Clarets crash out of the cup at City
Yesterday hasn't discouraged me for next season.
There are nine teams involved in the relegation battle. Six of those will stay up. With a few additions during the summer, we can compete with those six, plus the two coming up with us, plus the likes of Villa, Fulham and Brentford.
We'll be fine.

Man City must love playing against us. Going back to when they were managed by Kevin Keagan or Joe Royle they've thumped us, and now they all the Arab money they seem to do it to us more than anyone else. Kompany seems a clever chap, maybe he will be able to sort it.

It shouldn’t discourage us. We will play 36 games against teams nowhere near that level and as you rightly say there are teams who we can very much compete with.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 2:21 pmYesterday hasn't discouraged me for next season.

Re: REPORT: Clarets crash out of the cup at City
Could physicality be an issue? Of course City were way ahead of us yesterday but I felt perhaps too many times they won the individual 'physical' battles that created time and more space for them. Fully aware that good teams have a mix of 'brawn' and undoubted skill but our progress this season has relied on technical ability and speed of thought. Does a step up require this extra dimension to our squad?

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season and net season in how we compete in the EPL overall, games against City won't define how we end up. Yet I am expecting VK to make improvements against City, a 3 or 2 zero loss will be progress for me!
