Boycott & big screen
Boycott & big screen
We’re all disappointed with our allocation at Deadwood, but we should see it as an opportunity.
Imagine if we boycott, get a big screen at the Turf and have a bigger attendance at the Turf than there is at the actual game.
The embarrassment felt by our neighbours would be well worth it.
Come on Alan, make this happen

Live on Sky makes a big screen pointless.
Fanzone will do OK though.

If Alan makes a quick move and announces a big screen could it be possible?
What a statement it would be.

To be honest it actually makes sense from a safety point of view the last thing anyone needs is Burnley thugs in the homeClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:57 pmAre you aware that we can't show it like that without permission from the home club, in this case Blackburn.
End or wandering around Blackburn looking for trouble this might just limit that part of this.

Re: Boycott & big screen
Which big screen? The ones at the ground are like watching it through next doors curtains.
Most will either want friends round at home or in the boozer, can't see a massive uptake to be honest.

Totally agree
Re: Boycott & big screen
Think this game will be now known as the White Flag derby given BRFC have tried to stifle our support for the opposition.

This will be the modern day equivalent of when they took their ball home in the 1890's cause it was snowing and they were losing.

Re: Boycott & big screen
I think Mr Pace should get in touch with Preston and see if they can put a screen up there and then we take 7k fans to Preston to watch it which will really show Blackburn up and likely turn us into national heroes
If someone can pen a letter to Mr Pace as quickly as possible as we will need to act fast around this to make it work

No problem put big screens up around the car park at the back it's live on sky they can't do anything about that

Re: Boycott & big screen
The stop the game it's snowing was against Manchester United. Played on 6th March 1909, Burnley led 1-0 when the referee called it off with 18 minutes remaining. It was played again three days later with United winning 3-2. The referee was Mr Herbert Bamlett who five years later refereed our FA Cup final against Liverpool.

Re: Boycott & big screen
Game was 12th December 1891 and was Burnley first competitive win against Blackburn.
Played in a blizzard and after being 3-0 down at half time only seven Blackburn players returned for the second half. Eventually after the rest of the Blackburn team walked off after a sending off the game was abandoned.

I could understand needing their permission if it wasn’t being televised and it was a beamback, but why would we need permission to show it in the fan zone?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:57 pmAre you aware that we can't show it like that without permission from the home club, in this case Blackburn.

I think they allowed the result to stand but were forced to play a friendly match at Burnley as punishment. Maybe we felt allowing them to play again starting at 0-0 would be unfair.
Maybe Blackburn were the pioneers of going home early cause it was cold and there was no precedent in the laws of the game.

Grandad's notes include three brilliant saves from Jack Hillman in the first ten minutes to keep us in the game......then we go on to score our three goals before the abandonement.

Re: Boycott & big screen
I’ve emailed the club asking that they send the tickets back and put a big screen on. I’m saying that as a sth with well over 6k points. I’ll enter the ballot if they don’t send them back because it would be pointless as a one man protest!Durban wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:54 pmWe’re all disappointed with our allocation at Deadwood, but we should see it as an opportunity.

There'll be no boycott and no Burnley fans in the home end, beyond one or two discretely with friends or family.

Was it Walter that was manager at Peel Park when we played there in a friendly.......perhaps just before the '56/'57 season ?

Re: Boycott & big screen
Talk of a boycott is absolutely ridiculous. Why should Blackburn do anything to please our fans? If they were the ones running away with the league I’d give them the minimum amount possible. They’re our rivals FFS. The owners listening to the fans for once.

Led 1-0 when it was abandoned with the goal scored by Arthur Ogden and the same player scored both of our goals when it was replayed. it was the fourth round of the FA Cup.
And no, unlike you winsomeyen, I wasn't there.
