Weirdly Millwall v leeds got more coverage on here than a burnley team
Women’s team
Re: Women’s team
Good to see them doing well, but surely there must be somewhere they can play their games in the town. With the womens game on the up I'm sure they would get decent crowds.

Re: Women’s team
Been over this a million times. Why they can’t play that game on the turf on an international weekend is beyond me.
But delighted for the women’s team. Huge win against potential title contenders.

All them people crying about the team playing too far away - when they played at Padiham they barely got 100 on and most of them were family and friends.

Re: Women’s team
Not sure they were formally integrated with the club at that point? Or properly supported and promoted via the clubs SM?StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:59 pmAll them people crying about the team playing too far away - when they played at Padiham they barely got 100 on and most of them were family and friends.
Pretty sure there would be a lot more interest now, particularly at TM.
I can perhaps accept a pitch not being able to take two matches in a weekend (even struggle with that), but surely a pitch can take one game in two weekends?
As it happens a big home support wasn’t necessary (well done girls!!) but really think the club should look at a much closer home ground and many more games being player on the turf.

Re: Women’s team
I think international weekend is a good shout. No idea how much it costs to staff the turf, but surely the benefits are obvious enough for it to be tolerable if the admission doesn’t quite cover it.

Re: Women’s team
Last time they opened one stand (well, two actually, but only needed one) and one turnstile. The queues for the drinks/food were HUGE, would’ve easily paid for itself.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 7:23 pmI think international weekend is a good shout. We’ll done to ALK for properly integrating and investing in the women’s team, but real shame they don’t get them on the turf more often.

Re: Women’s team
Possibly. Maybe we contract with them for the 11 games or whatever, but equally sure they’d accept a contract for 6 games if that’s what we wanted.
I just can’t understand not wanting to get them at home for the big games which look like they’ll be Nottingham, Wolves and Newcastle this season. Although the whole single promotion slot seems wrong to me, if those are the circumstances surely you want to give them the best shot by facilitating good support for the home games.

Re: Women’s team
The level they’re at now is a million miles away from from 5-6 years ago, really moving up.
My daughters a mascot soon, looking forward to going to watch them.
Would be nice to get a game on the turf but even the u21s struggle so very unlikely

Re: Women’s team
Sure the avid followers of the U21s like Tony would prefer U21s games at the Turf but I’d personally prefer the women to play there over the U21s.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 8:11 pmThe level they’re at now is a million miles away from from 5-6 years ago, really moving up.

Away to Newcastle next, who have 3 wins in 3, so the hard games keep on coming

Re: Women’s team
I used to enjoy going on the reserve games in the 90s when they opened the Bob Lord stand for them.
Re: Women’s team
Although the last time they played in Burnley they got something like 3,000 on.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 6:59 pmAll them people crying about the team playing too far away - when they played at Padiham they barely got 100 on and most of them were family and friends.
Re: Women’s team
Newcastle beat us a few weeks ago in the cup. I think it was 3-2.

Newcastle are the team to beat. Massive investment up there in the women's team.

This would suggest that some play close to their men's teams, and some don't.
Wolves play at Telford for example.

Re: Women’s team
Wolves to Telford is a lot closer then Burnley to Leyland. Playing in Leyland is embarrassing. If they can’t play at a ground closer then would it be possible to play at Gawthrope and build a stand to hold 1 to 2 thousand? Surely that can be done? Could use the pitch closest to the lane?Falcon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 1:25 pmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023%E2%8 ... n_Division

With the womens team playing so far away it feels like the club doesn’t really care about the womens team and isn’t taken it seriously at all.
Re: Women’s team
Thanks. Not seeing any team playing at their club stadium at least not on a regular basisFalcon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 1:25 pmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023%E2%8 ... n_Division

What is the difference in distance between the 2 when you say it is a lot closer.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 1:42 pmWolves to Telford is a lot closer then Burnley to Leyland. You want to build a stand to holds up to 2000 for people to watch a team they can't be arsed travelling about 25 miles to watch ?
Feeling embarrassed about playing in Leyland is fairly weird.
