But Kane is a far better player than Ash, so has even less reason to play act etc.

Ash goes down soft but does he really play act like that?

I mean that was pathetic from Kane

Are we going to have this for years to come? People poring over every word he (Dyche) says and then starting threads on here in order to have another pop at one of our most successful managers in decades. Are we really such shabby fans?

Good point, well made Billy. In reality the anti-Dyche comments say far more about the individuals concerned than they do about SD. They come across very clearly for what they are; small minded, ungrateful, keyboard warriors. They really should get something else to do.

I’ll stick my head above the parapet. He received criticism about similar comments when he was manager here and while the OP is a bit industrial, it’s a reasonable thread starter about an incident that’s been talked about recently and the whole idea of ‘gamesmanship’. Or we can just do another food count or something.

Has a Dyche player ever had a concussion check after falling over and feigning injury like that?

Kane used to have a habit of backing into jumping defenders, meaning they had a higher risk of going over his head and landing badly.

Kane is the issue, but you can't see that.

I can understand the majority having a dislike for Coyle in the way he left but there seems to be a disproportionate amount of dislike for Dyche

What Kane did was ridiculous. The incident happened right in front of Dyche. His comments were what you would expect from any manager when a member of the opposition play acts looking to get a player carded/sent off.

What a job Dyche is doing at Everton, no surprise whatsoever to me but the turnaround has been strong and instantaneous. He might have a job on next season should they get their expected points deduction though (which may well be good for us…). Good luck to him, legend.

Apparently these are the points teams have gained since SD took over:

Everton: 12
Wolves: 11
Leeds: 11
Chelsea: 10
Bournemouth: 10
West Ham: 9
Southampton: 8
Leicester: 7
Palace: 6
Forest: 6

Yes Barnes may have had a tendency to exaggerate contact to win a foul but don’t recall him ever collapsing to the floor holding his face looking to get a player sent off after being brushed by fingertips like Kane did

Kane can be footballs worst example on occasion. Should have been booked and should ve disciplined subsequently, for blatant feigning of injury, vto get a fellow professional sent off.

Doucoure grabbed his face. Bit of an OTT reaction from Kane but the OP is pointing towards Dyche’s comments on play acting, acting the big man that his players never do it, yet Barnes for years and years went down looking for fouls from barely a touch, which is also play acting.

Kane went down like he's been shot, embarrassing behaviour from the England captain.

Yes Barnes plays for free-kicks as most players do, but to remotely compare him to Kane is crazy.

And if the OP really wants to call out diving look at what Twine did a few games ago.

Ash had the crap kicked out of him by defenders and still does
He's too honest to go down unprovoked and so often gets nothing off refs
We all know footballs divers, cheating con artists, Zaha, Grealish, Sterling, Kane and Vardy go down when they feel an opponents breath on them
Sean was spot on in his analysis .I especially enjoyed his broken eyelash comments at Goodison v Spuds

To be fair, Burnley players under Dyche might have played for free kicks and so on, Barnes being a shithouse and Pope timewasting... But they didn't feign injury.

It’s completely different RV.

What Kane did was nothing more than cheating.

Barnes makes the most of contact but he doesn’t cheat to try and get players sent off.

Dyches comments are accurate and Kane should be publicly humiliated about it

It all falls under play acting / gamesmanship, whatever you wanna call it. Same with time wasting, we were probably the worst for it in the Prem. You are calling Barnes ‘making the most of contact’ not cheating, whereas, technically he is overreacting to slight contact in order to ‘cheat’ an advantage, like Kane did.

You're being pedantic, it's gamesmanship.
I agree, I don't like it, but I also think Ash played that role because of the many times he was clearly fouled, and got nothing. To try and compare Kane's actions to Ash is wrong, because it's a completely different subject trying to get someone sent off.

Doucoure cheated. Kane cheated. Barnes cheated. And whilst this may not be a popular view we have probably seen more cheating from a Burnley side this season than any season under Dyche.

Putting Dyche’s comments aside and the antics of Kane, the issue is the rules.

What the Everton player did is a red card offence, however you can almost guarantee that had Kane stayed on his feet the most likely outcome would be that both players get booked for the altercation. You see it all the time.

So we’ve created a system where the only way you can ensure the rules are applied properly is by acting and diving about the place. It’s ridiculous.

She was a hypocrite too because she’d cheated on him with Dev and Mike Baldwin.

Dyche was brilliant for us. Nobody can ever seriously say otherwise, but I hope we can debate his merits as a manager for his current and future clubs without being labelled ungrateful or similar.

What I’m interested in is whether he can adapt his style/approach. It served us very, very well, but he seemed recognised it also pidgeon-hole him in the eyes of would-be employers. That was evident in the many podcasts he did last summer.

So far at Everton it seems to be more of the same, but it is probably what they need right now.

People can debate anything they want on here, that’s the nature of a forum and everyone’s entitled to their opinion. The sad reality to me is that the start of your second sentence (“nobody can seriously say otherwise..”) is the part quite a few seem to struggle with. That’s not aimed at you AG either to be clear, you’re always sensible and willing to see things subjectively rather than black and white.

It ended poorly at Burnley for Dyche undoubtedly, but there seems a genuine dislike for the man and an ambivalence to his achievements prior to the last 18 months from a surprisingly high amount of Burnley fans. It’s not for me to say they can’t feel that way but it’s something I struggle to comprehend.

I’m not sure why we can’t all live in happy, happy, joy, joy high five world about how well it’s gone for us since he left, and that it’s going well for him too. I couldn’t care less how Everton do in general, but ex-players/managers who did a great job for us I like to wish them well. Hopefully a period of time passing will allow people to sensibly observe what he achieved with us and grant him the respect he deserves, as happened with Jimmy Mullen as time went by.

People can debate anything they want on here, that’s the nature of a forum and everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I agree that some people clearly don’t like him and seem to begrudge him any success, but I think there’s a space in between the polarised discussions about him.

I think you can show him the respect he’s due and debate his current and future performance as manager.

To be fair, Burnley players under Dyche might have played for free kicks and so on, Barnes being a shithouse and Pope timewasting... But they didn't feign injury.
Not many going down either. They stayed on their feet when others could have died!

Oh well, that's OK then...

Not cheats but erm, erm...
Giving the ref an option to give free kicks and taking time to take goal kicks isn't cheating.
