Coin throwing

Post by Colburn_Claret » Sat Apr 08, 2023 12:32 pm

I was at the game and happened to be looking straight at JBG when the pound coin bounced off his head. I felt it.
I just wondered what they made of it on the Telly. It hasn't had a mention on SSN.
In fact the only person who mentioned it was the boro lad in his vlog. No dig at Boro here, arseholes come in many different colours.

I think they'll (Boro) be severely punished for that

Sky sports showed a slow motion of the goal celebration and you could see the coin flying across. Such a brain-dead thing to do

Very fortunately JBG didn't get the coin in his eye. THAT is what could have happened.

Most on that thread go on to say it was from the Boro stand.

It got mentioned briefly on the television when JBG was rubbing his head but when the game got back underway again it's the last I heard of it, had I not seen it on here I would have completely forgotten about it, I don't think JBG made a big deal out of it.

It got plenty of coverage both during and after the match. It will certainly have made the referee’s report. Boro will be in trouble.

I left the pub after the 96 so I don't know what got said after, JBG didn't seem to make a big deal out of things which he could have done & was more than entitled to do, I did fleetingly think when he got subbed maybe that could have been a factor in the change.

A girl behind me in the crowd, videoed a Boro fan throwing coin after coin into the crowd and at the players after the final whistle. There is also footage of JBG handing over a lighter??? to the Ref after he was hit. Stupid behaviour

Fortunately JBG wasn't seriously hurt, however I do fear that it will take somebody to suffer a serious injury before this pathetic behaviour is firmly clamped down on.

Though TBF to the clubs I'm not really sure what measures they can put in place to deter it, although if the reported video footage is correct then hopefully that can be used if evidence is required.

Let's be straight here if this happened in any other public place it would rightly be frowned upon, so why should football be any different.

I fully understand passions run high sometimes, but I'm sorry there is simply no excuse for throwing objects at any players.

I don't think anybody's suggested otherwise certainly not on here I think everybody is with you, it's a place of employment really in a technical sense & in any environment nobody goes to work to have things thrown at them.

It got a lot of coverage on Sky and they showed slow motion footage of it during and after the game. It showed him handing something to an official and then going down again either delayed reaction or being hit twice. The comments on it were about how dangerous it was and that if could blind someone. Hope they can identify the idiot(s) who dud this and throw the book at them :D

I imagine Boro will have their own cctv of the incident. I hope they identify the culprit(s) and prosecute them, a footballing ban is nowhere near enough.

I was hit on the head by a pound coin at Boro a few years ago.I think it was the season we played twice in quick succession. Must be a thing for their fans.No damage thanks to a good tweed cap.

Every Boro supporter I came across yesterday was pleasant.

As an aside, some people I know went to Rudds Arms and a Boro fan put £250 behind the bar just for Burnley supporters.

I went to Man U v Villa in around 1991. We were sat in the seats behind the away terracing. At the end of the game Villa fans were chucking coins at the United fans sat behind them. I picked up about 3 quid in loose change which was useful pocket money on those days for a 14 year old.

There's some footage on Twitter, a couple of videos where a bloke in a green jacket throws a coin towards the Burnley fans and on another occasion throws a coin towards the pitch. It looks like it after the full-time whistle, but I might be wrong.

Just sad behaviour.

Do you think they will do anything, they have history for not following up video evidence.
