All credit to him. I do not and never will like the concept of leveraged buy outs and I think he struggled a bit at first, made some mistakes and hit some bum notes. But he seems to have learned rapidly and the overall strategy looks to have been very successful. Above all his targeting of Kompany was a masterstroke

Tbh, I’m fully behind Mr Pace, I think he’s doing a great job in moving the club forward. He’s not afraid of making tough decisions, and he’s making lots of good ones at the moment. If he and Vinny continue as they are, I’m sure they’ll do what they can to take us to the next level. Great times to be a Clarets fan. Thanks Alan.

For those on Instagram, check out Pace’s stories he recently added. Real heartwarming moments of him and his colleagues embracing, first with Obafemi and Tella before VK virtually picked him up.

It took courage to pot Dyche when he did, however in hindsight it was the right thing to do, and as well as having the nerve to do that he had the foresight to appoint Vinny Kompany, who has transformed our fortunes in rapid order and crucially brought back the feel good factor once again.

Appointing Kompany was clearly a brilliant decision that has paid off hugely. Pace deserves credit for that.

Pace also deserves credit for basically outsourcing the entire football side of things to VK and his people and not 'doing a Boehly'. Sometimes putting your ego aside and keeping out of the way can be the best thing an owner can do.

Now let's see if Pace can back Kompany sufficiently to give him the squad he needs to prosper in the Premier League.

Pace and certainly his team ( Alan wouldn’t have known Vincent Kompany from Vincent Vega ) deserve credit for steadying the ship and making very sound decisions . We’re now at “ ground zero “ and the real test begins . I personally think AP and co will invest wisely to ensure we compete in the prem and they pay off their debt . VK is also a hugely impressive guy .

There were rumours circulating a couple of months ago about possible new investors putting in money if promotion was secured

And these were supposed to be companies/hedge fund management rather than individual American sportsmen

Exciting times ;)

I’d be interested to learn of those mistakes and “bum notes” you speak of.

I can think of only one…and at the time I don’t think anyone had it down as a mistake.

What sort of returns would a hedge fund achieve from a club like ours?

In fairness to AP I doubt many UK based investors have a big knowledge of MLS history either . Not a dig at AP and it’s possible he’d heard of VK per se I guess . Either way I’m bloody glad we got the big man .

Woefully ignorant statement

It's wildly known that Pace took to the beautiful game after studying in Barcelona in like the 90s.

I'm pretty sure he knows quite a lot about football. It is possible you know, just like how an English person can know more about baseball/basketball than someone in America...

While it’s not impossible AP fervently followed VK’s career and middling baptism into management ,it’s rather unlikely . That AP “ knows a fair bit about and enjoys football “ was never in doubt . They’ll have drawn up a hit list after top advice and it’s paid off well . Hysterically screeching “ woeful ignorance “ because you don’t agree with a reasonable point is more akin to a giddy fan boy who believes the misty eyed whimsy about AP’s “ Road to Damascus “ soccerball moment .

It wasn't about knowing his career inside out......you said he wouldn't have known Vincent Kompany against someone I've never heard of, even my football ignorant wife knew who Kompany was, to suggest Pace didn't was just silly

I think you are underestimating Alan Pace’s (pre involvement) love of football. As previously mentioned he started following the the game while a student (and is close friends with a few former classmates from Uni now involved with clubs in Europe). I think to suggest Pace was unaware of one of the games leading lights for many years is a little too disingenuous.

Does it matter whether Pace is a visionary or a very lucky man? The main thing is worked out very well.

It’s the same with the Dyche appointment. None of the board at the time could ever have envisaged the following 10 years, no matter how impressive the interview.

Sometimes things just work better than you ever expected.

“ not impossible “ but that’s about it . It’s up there with the % of brits with an intimate knowledge of NBA. Enjoy your hot cross buns .
