Re: THB presser
The more I listen to him talk the more obvious it becomes that all he wants to do is play football and the more positive I feel about our chances of signing him on permanently.

Very well spoken and a credit to Man City, Burnley and himself.

I absolutely love THB and I would be delighted if he’s in our team next season, whether that be as a permanent or loan signing.

Re: THB presser
Not a clue how much Man.City would want for him but unless he signs a New contract at City and goes on loan , I'm presuming with his current contract running out in June 2024 , they would be keen to sell him this summer ?

Re: THB presser
Imo, We’d get him on a similar sort of deal to Mee & Trippier, smallish fee by his standards but with a 40% sell on clause or a buy back clause

Re: THB presser
If we went for that Mee/Trippier type deal, there would still be those calling the club for agreeing to it.
I’d be happy to see him turn out for us again next season.

Re: THB presser
It’s a no brainer for me, example - £10m and get 2 seasons out of him, sell for £30m and you get your money back
Re: THB presser
A good promising Championship centre-half with the potential
to make it to the very top would probably fetch around 12-15m
and if he did make it at the highest level may well be worth double that
in a few years.
If City are willing to sell than we might well be beaten
by other interested parties who could offer more and pay him more.
But he does seem keen to continue at Burnley and VK would probably be
very keen to get him in.
Be interesting to see how much Pace is willing to put in the transfer basket?

It's good that you now recognise what a player and excellent prospect THB is. Refreshing that someone is happy to change their position rather than sticking to their guns.

Re: THB presser
I recognise he’s actually better than I originally thought, but I maintain Beyer is the best centre half at the club.
I’d like to see more of him, and I reckon he could develop nicely under VK, but what I don’t see is what some on here reckon he is… the next big thing. I still think some have got a little over excited because of who his parent club are.
Be happy going into next season with Beyer and THB in the heart of our defence, and with Ekdal (who looks really good) and Al dakhil (shows potential) waiting in the wings, we look strong back there.

Re: THB presser
I’m guessing there will be around £40m to £50m available for transfer fees. Possibly more depending on which players leave.
Could be way off the mark obviously, but with spreading any fees over 3 or 4 years it won’t have a big impact on the P&L and we know that we have made significant reductions in our wage bill. Whilst the wages of existing players will increase with promotion we are starting at a much lower baseline than we have for a number of years. If Barnes leaves as expected and possibly moving on the likes of Taylor and a couple of others this gives us a bit more room for new players too.
I suspect it will be another very busy summer for the media team !
Re: THB presser
Beyer is a main contender for player of the season in my view - you are right to highlight and praise him. But THB has been very close to Beyer's performance this season, not helped by his time on the sidelines. It obviously remains to be seen if THB is the next big thing - it's too early to say that but I'm not sure how many people have actually said that - but hopefully it will be closer than your previous view that THB is average, is no better than Kevin Long and you wouldn't be bothered if he left. I strongly agree with your view now though that it would be great if both Beyer and THB are here next season.bobinho wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 10:28 pmI recognise he’s actually better than I originally thought, but I maintain Beyer is the best centre half at the club.

Re: THB presser
I reckon 12 million, 5 year deal with a buy back clause for City, all done under the radar and it just gets announced

Re: THB presser
Really good interview and quite an insight into how VK has developed the mentality of the group
You'd like to think VK feels the prospect of continuing that work with us in the PL would be a better bet for his long term career prospects than trying to shape what Conte described as a selfish/entitled set of players who would - it seems - be reluctant to buy into the philosophy

Re: THB presser
I share your optimism on this! It’s a no brainer for us. We saw with Keane / Tarks the value of young English defenders once they’ve had a good season or so in the PL. Can easily be talking a 30-40m sale in a couple of years.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 10:48 pmI reckon 12 million, 5 year deal with a buy back clause for City, all done under the radar and it just gets announced
