FIT test
FIT test
Anybody on here with any experiance of a possitive FIT test? Mine has just come back possitive and I have been told I will have a cholonoscopy within the next 2 weeks. I was wondering what other peoples outcomes have been after the test.

Re: FIT test
Firstly. Try not to worry. There can be many benign reasons for blood in stools. The fact that you are being sent for a colonoscopy is good, they will be able to see exactly what is going on in your bowel and take biopsies from the whole length of your large intestine (up to where it meets your small intestines).
The worst part of a colonoscopy is the bowel prep, it is truly disgusting, but once you get through that - the procedure is usually quite painless if a little uncomfortable at times.
Bottom line (excuse the pun) don’t worry about anything you don’t know about yet - and don’t worry about what you can Google either. 2 weeks May seem a long time, but it will come around quickly, then you’ll hopefully know a bit more about what is going on.

Re: FIT test
I went through this last summer Matt and as you've alluded to, it can be a really disconcerting time. My GP really put my mind at rest regarding Cancer, I'd just turned 25 at the time and he hadn't seen bowel cancer in someone my age before, although that wasn't to say it could be ruled out. Rick is right in saying the prep is the worst thing and for what it's worth, I elected to take the sedation on the day of the procedure to try make things less uncomfortable. I didn't feel any difference in myself and can remember the whole procedure, but bar one moment of discomfort I didn't really feel much. I wouldn't be anxious about it if I ever need another so hopefully that can provide you with some comfort. My diagnosis was a for a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease which thankfully hasn't given me much grief since. I just hope it stays that way. Best of luck going forwards.

Re: FIT test
I was knocked out when I had it. It was wonderful as I never felt a thing. Don't Dr Google as it will have you thinking all sorts of things.

Agree 100% with what people are saying ref moviprep, the taste, the effect once it kicks in you jus daren't leave the bathroom let alone the house . I was sedated and watched the procedure on he screen while the 2 lads doing the procedure explained everything found it ealllly interesting, a couple more things, the shorts you have to wear are absolutely awful and your time in the recovery room is something to behold some very weird and wonderful noises. All the best with everything hope it goes well

Re: FIT test
My dad had the same and having asked him and brought up the points raised by other posters, he agreed with all of them. He had sedation but didn’t watch (he didn’t want to) but says that the ladies doing it explained everything and they were brilliant.
